It's what my doctor recommended for cramps. He recommended it over anything he could prescribe. It works as well or better, and even with taking three at a time, it's cheaper than a $12 prescription.

he he ... when I was in college the school doctor used to hand out Darvon for cramps. Needless to say, she was VERY popular. (She was also good and she really wasn't irresponsible with the Darvon ... but she knew how bad it could get.)
I've never understood the aversion to occasional heavy pain med use. I keep a stash and have no problem medicating myself into oblivion if necessary.
Stoicism is a fine philosophy ... but there's enough pain you can't avoid that you should avoid any you can.
Logically, I know this. I tend to downplay stuff. And, you know, denial? I am a lousy patient.

Several other OTC painkillers do, and there are enough of them out there that it's a confusing field?
Just another way painkillers are like root beer.
