Ow. George was my father's age. He will be missed.
Cool fixture in a cool store.
Tomorrow is Monday. You guys have until 6 am to make it not a work day without in any way jeopardising my ability to pay my rent.

28 out of 30. I missed the year the last amendment was ratified and the president born in Texas.
This is from way back but I wanted to say that Emmett's baseball tournament story was awesome - very proud of him. That's the kind of baseball story I like.
Thanks, Stephanie. He's been extra good at the big brother gig all weekend too. Which is good because it does let me see him away from baseball where so much of our time together is.
He had a practice game today and every time he came to bat his front foot would step out as the pitcher released the ball. It's something I'll have to UnTeach his body, because now his body wans to get away. But he wasn't having a panic attack up there either.
I love George Carlin. I've been watching since he was on the Flip Wilson show. That's a hard one for me to take. He stayed funny for a much longer time than any of his peers.
Skipping (yeah, even the few Sunday-of-a-F2F posts, sigh) to post that, according to the Buffista Calendar, today is Steph L's birthday.
Happy birthday, Teppy! With lots of wishes for a great day and a wonderful year!
Hippo Birdies, Steph!
Too bad about George Carlin, who secured a prominent place in media history without ever starring in a movie or having his own TV show that I know of, and did so much to provoke discussion about the First Amendment while being truly, truly funny.
sarameg - not lisah but how about: holy frijoles, goldenwest, henningers (a little pricey), or downtown some of the Indian places are great and the afghan restaurant The Helmand has the best pumpkin appetizer on the planet (some dishes are cheap some not), donnas has good entrees for not much money. We also like one eyed mikes a lot but you need to enter through the bar and some of the entrees are expensive.
Happy birthday, Steph!
Oh, Kat -- I saw a kid the other day who looked just like Noah, except 3 or 4. Maybe it was just the hair, but I don't think so.
Also, I got 27/30 on that quiz. Not bad.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPH!!!!

I caught his last special for HBO, and he was still funny as shit. I will miss those semi-annual events for sure.
I remember him doing the Hippy Dippy Weatherman (was that Wilson, or was that all the way back to the Smothers Brothers?) as the first time I saw him. Then my sister played a record of his for me (when my parents were out). It was the one with "7 words you can't say on television". Hilarious.
The experts all said to let the baby put one handful of sand in her mouth, and she'll spit it out and not try it again.
Uh-huh. Spoken like a group of "experts" with no children of their own.
I'm not sure about sand, but I was eating dirt in the backyard up until I was at least 9 or 10. I just liked the taste.
