What did the banee do, Sparky?

This morning we found hundreds of pages from looseleafs (some from the stacks, some from reserve) all stacked up on a book cart willy-nilly with a note stuck on it that said, "Please do not touch, doing research." It's going to take some unlucky tech services student many hours of tedious labor to refile all those pages. He's a local lawyer, he's done other unacceptable things before (like taking Lexis and Westlaw print outs waiting for pick up by the students), and he's had a warning about co-opting carrels and materials, so I decided this was destructive enough that we should just ban him. I love that we can actually do this here, since at my last employment we had to wait for a patron to do something truly criminal before we could even get that far.

Perkins, insent about MWu's free time at AALL yesterday. Did you see Jennifer in LV?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Random photo of the day: Cosmonauts urinating on a bus (Worksafe)

Apparently cosmonauts urinate on the wheels of the bus that carries them to the launch site - a pre-flight good-luck ritual.

Mmm, rage.

Am still on a high. In a bad way. Managed to obliquely call maintenance manager a liar and not so obliquely, incompetent.

Property manager pissed on my behalf.

Raaaage.

Also, wondering if corporate will contact them. I'm probably getting myself blackballed.

Large ‘Planet X’ may lurk beyond Pluto

An icy, unknown world might lurk in the distant reaches of our solar system beyond the orbit of Pluto, according to a new computer model.

The hidden world — thought to be much bigger than Pluto based on the model — could explain unusual features of the Kuiper Belt, a region of space beyond Neptune littered with icy and rocky bodies. Its existence would satisfy the long-held hopes and hypotheses for a "Planet X" envisioned by scientists and sci-fi buffs alike.

I got it, but then got busy. I need to figure out what my schedule is too.

I didn't see J. I am a bad person.

I am a bad person.

Are not. I sent a card, and she sent an email that says she's doing okay.

Managed to obliquely call maintenance manager a liar and not so obliquely, incompetent.

It's been a long time coming.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Happy birthday, Plei!

Today is the last day of classes (weee!) until two weeks from now when I will start summer school. But I get a solid (solid!) week off. Thank god.

I'm not looking forward to another scorching day. I have on a summer dress and I plan on wearing sandals too. I'm debating whether or I should walk or drive. Walk = better for me, cheaper too. Drive = air conditioner, and can haul stuff like paper, folders, etc that I need to bring home. Plus I can go directly from work to pick up the baby.

Thoughts?

Also mom-advice needed. Noah is covered with bug bites. We have bugs outside our door (mosquito central) and he spends all day at day care outside. How can I stop the bug bites from happening (don't want to use bug spray for obvious toxic reasons)? And when he does get them, how can I make the red welts go away faster? Luckily he doesn't seem to scratch them so much.

Because books.

Kat, can you try Avon's Skin So Soft? It really works, and it's not a spray. I'm not sure about toxicity, but maybe if you only put it on his legs (i.e. not somewhere he'd put in his mouth?).

Seems like there should be baby-safe bug stuff out there somewhere, doesn't it?

Could you maybe put some citronella or soy based bug stuff on his clothes instead of his skin, Kat?
