I'm watching a VH-1 special about one-hit-wonders, and they just ranked "Time after Time" in the high teens. Surely more than one of Cyndi Lauper's songs would qualify as hits—wasn't "Girls just Wanna Have Fun" a chart topper?
No argument about Dexy's Midnight Runners, though.
I think "True Colors" was also a chart-topper.
And what about "She Bop"? Not even remotely a one-hit wonder.
Kristin, did they just get their report cards?
Last week, yes. But still. You can talk to me when we're back in session, you know?
(Plus, this kid got an A-.)
I've had a few A- students try to challenge their grades. Doesn't tend to get them much sympathy.
I had one of those this semester, too. I had to say no five times before she stopped asking.
It's an A-Minus! Clearly her future medical career is at stake.
I'm watching the TV Land Awards. Did anyone else watch this? It's bizarre. The opening sequence is stars of old TV shows (Doc from Love Boat, Beaver Cleaver, Nellie Olsen, Greg Brady, Gary Coleman, and a few others), dressed as their characters, hanging over the crowd on flying aparatus while Vanessa Williams sings "I'm Flying" from Peter Pan.
So a co-worker of mine went the TV Land Awards and told me the next day, "Gee when my friend who was supposed to go with me backed out I should have called you instead of just going by myself. You would have been so much more in your element than I was."
Doh!
