On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

Uh, someone have a gun I can borrow?

I may be on vacation part of next week. The build's been postponed. Except if coworker gets jury duty, then I'm fucked. In other fun jury duty news, if one of our other people doesn't get her JD deferred, we're all fucked. Seriously. It's bad enough we've got a food chain lineup prepped to write letters. They are talking about calling congresscritters if the bosses's letters don't work. (They aren't asking for her to get off the hook. Just not to be on it until the new year.)

I HATE MY DIALUP.

Whee. I just got my bitch on. Found the email for the regional maintenance manager for the management company. Sent a very diplomatic but firm complaint, complete with timeline.

We'll see.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

It's probably deeply sad that I'm enjoying a new-to-us Backyardigans episode almost as much Annabel is, huh?

I mean, it's a total rip-off of Night at the Museum. But it has flamenco music! And Pablo is a statue of Napoleon!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, Sara, I'm just as glad you don't have a gun this week, you know what I'm saying?

Ah, c'mon, I was raised nonviolent. 17 years of that is hard to overcome.

though not THAT hard...

Hah. 17 years of Quaker...but notice she doesn't say what she's been doing SINCE then....

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

My theory is that if you manage to be a pacifist 99.99% of the time, you're doing well. So what if during the other .01% of the time you're shooting people? We should just round that down to 0%.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

It's ok, Sara. I killed the day with vodka. The gun is no longer necessary. Thanks.

I'm gonna be 33. OTOH, I didn't opt to hire myself off to the defense dept... My current career is pure! Ish.

Glad you killed the day, Tamara. I'm killing my rage-twitches with scotch. Might not be the best idea ever, but it's stopping the stabbing urges.

The status is NOT quo.

I just got an email from school. One of my former freshmen's parents wants me to call her ASAP. WTF, parent? Call me when school starts again. I don't want to talk to you right now.

Signed,
