I'm sorry, dad. You know I would never have tried to save River's life if I had known there was a dinner party at risk.

That's a cool profile list.

More on George Takei (one of the LA Times blog links earlier today actually said "Sulu, Solo No More")

Actor George Takei of "Star Trek" fame and his partner were among the first wave of gay couples obtaining marriage licenses in West Hollywood. "I think it's a glorious California morning to make history," said a beaming Takei, who stood with his mate, Brad Altman, before a clutch of reporters and TV cameras. The actor, who played Mr. Sulu, the starship Enterprise's helmsman on the original "Star Trek" series, told the crowd: "Congratulations to all of us: May equality live long and prosper."

Takei, 71, and Altman, 54, are planning a September wedding ceremony at the Democracy Forum at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I've never cried at an actual wedding, but this is killing me with the happy tears! There is a couple who met the year I was born! And now they are gatting married! Sometimes I am so disenchanted with the whole human race, but this is really beautiful

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I was annoyed at the AP headline on Yahoo news about people "rushing" to get married. I was like, dude! Some of them have been waiting for decades! They aren't rushing to get married like, say, Britney Spears might.

Oh man, Cyd Charisse died. She was the basis of the best compliment I ever received as an adolescent.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

She was the basis of the best compliment I ever received as an adolescent.

Well, I don't doubt that you have good legs.

That's sad about Cyd. Others may prefer her with Fred Astaire, but I'll always think about her saucy strip at the beginning of The Silencers.

I really quite love them, but why are Elizabeth Perkins and Amy Madigan on my teevee talking about Westerns like they are experts?

Funny you mention Britney Spears...

[link]

Doria Biddle, 38, walked Collin, her long-haired dachshund, two blocks from her home to the West Hollywood park where couples were being married Tuesday.

"He already tried to eat somebody's wedding cake," she said.

Noting that she is a single lesbian, Biddle said, "I thought it would be fun to stand here looking jilted and heartbroken."

"I'm single, so it's not even a pipe dream at this point," she said. "I hope people don't rush into it because of this. We don't need any more Britney Spears weddings."

Better when I was 12, probably. And my mother's office was in a converted mansion, so there was a grand staircase to come down.

I'm finally watching the Goren L&O:CI premiere, and it's a total Oz reunion! Good times.

"I thought it would be fun to stand here looking jilted and heartbroken."

I'm sorry, that's just weird.

When I was 12, I had this lovely purple bathing suit and my friends father told me I had a nice figure. Her mother was all concerned because "Sophia has boobies" and her daughter didn't. Her sister just liked to brush my hair forever. In retrospect, it was sort of traumatizing...

Ah, I guess I should have pasted in more of the quote:

Joking aside, Biddle said watching the ceremonies warmed her heart. She hoped the marriages would increase mainstream acceptance of gays and lesbians, a wish repeated by many people on Tuesday.
