So, uh, where's the info coming from on the coffee shortage?
Not that I disbelieve, but I just haven't heard anything. (Although I generally get all my news from the Buffistas first anyway...)
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

You know, I got the nicest note from my SIL after I sent the membership the children's museum that I'm a fabulous auntie and that her children are lucky to have me. I got all allergy-eyed. It was such a nice thing to hear.

I was wondering that too. It would be funny (not really) if the Buffistas CAUSED a coffee shortage!
So which would concern you more - coffee shortages (which I hadn't heard about) or hop/malt shortages (which I HAVE heard about)?
Guh? Whuh? Buh? Whuh? Guh?
Coffee and beer?
THERE IS NO FUCKING GOD! NONE! THERE IS NONE GOD!
It would be funny (not really) if the Buffistas CAUSED a coffee shortage!
The Buffista.org Effect!
I'm not seeing any recent stories about a worldwide coffee shortage. The latest is from 2005 (predicting a shortage in 2007).

I'm not going to claim cause and effect, but I can't help notice that this happened just as MCR went on their hiatus.
Happy Birthday, Cass!
And I just saw the question on cruises. Our experience:
How do you pick a cruise?
First, figure out where you want to go -- though it sounds like you've done that.
Next, pick a cruise line. Each line has its own personality. Obviously, Disney caters to families with kids. Carnival has a rep as a "party" line. We've sailed on Princess, which is older and less formal. There are plenty of Web sites and travel agents that could help match you with a cruise line.
Also, different ships/cruises have different personalities. There's nothing quite like sailing the Caribbean on a ship with an English captain and a passenger list that's 2/3 English and Scottish. I don't know how to help you there.
Is this the sort of thing a relatively feeble person can do?
Absolutely. You may want to check out rooms for persons with disabilities, however. Also be careful when picking your shore excursions -- some require more physical exertion than others.
If I'm in a small room with my mother and sister, will we all be alive after seven days or will the headlines read "Bloodbath on the High Seas?"
Staterooms are mostly for sleeping and dressing. However, an express understanding that you won't do everything together may be wise.
Is there internet access?
Yes, but there's a cost. I think it's 50 cents a minute. However, that was almost 2-1/2 years ago, when WiFi was still pretty exotic.

Uh, so, Burrell -- was it our Victor (poet Victor, not new-ish Victor C.) who decided to spread these terrifying LIES?
