And I am with the people whose feet get cold and who do not want nylons melting over their legs on the off chance they are in a miraculous crash that does not just kill them right off the bat.

And I'm sure it was appreciated appropriately!
Heck yeah it was!
I have the cold feet on the plane issue too. I must wear socks and shoes.
I wouldn't wear flip flops on a plane because my feet get cold.
I put a pair of socks in my carry on for such a reason.
Relatedly, I heard a rumor we might get Casual Fridays here, and I immediately thought I would need to buy new clothes, because most of my scrubbing-around-on-the-weekend clothes aren't nice enough for work, I don't think.
Also, I read something about not being in nylons or heels (or most synthetic fabrics) when planes go down in a flaming wreck. Sure if my plane crashes I have other issues. But on the off chance that I survive, I don't want to either puncture the little slide to get out nor do I want to deal with burns due to synthetic fabrics.
Perhaps I am overthinking this?
No, I knew someone who worked in airline safety and the no wearing stockings (because they will basically fuse to your leg) was her number one rule when it came to dressing for a flight.
Heck yeah it was!

But airline travel is so much safer than car travel. Now granted, only a small percentage of car accidents result in fire that injures passengers, but I wonder if overall more people get burned from fire in car crashes than they do in plane crashes. But I've never heard of anyone recommending choosing clothes based on flammability for car travel.
How did you meet this person?
heh. At that great place to pick up men -- a baby shower! He is an old old college friend of my friend here and flew in for the baby shower we threw for her in April.
Here is me 15 years ago (in holey jeans, just to remain on topic)
I think I might need to friend you in Facebook to see it... Do you mind?
Oh, of course! I thought it was an open link.
