Rank means that he was misbehaving - fighting his rider. . .which he was.
Thanks! That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure.
Operation Lets Muslim Women Reclaim Virginity
The thing that gets me about the hymen thing is...I didn't bleed my first time, and in an informal survey during a discussion of the Magic Misplaced Hymen as found in many romance novels, I was in the majority, not the minority. Even allowing for all the lifestyle factors that would make it more likely for a American or European girl to be a hymen-free virgin than one from a traditional Muslim society, I still wonder just how many women have suffered for "crimes" they never committed down through the years...

Not just that, but all the women who were blamed/beaten/cast aside for not producing male babies...and now we know that the sperm decides the sex, not the ova.
That still gets me.
I have nothing ready for mac's dinner, so just ordered pizza. cooking is so not happening.
Jess, "aliyah" means moving to Israel, not just visiting. (The opposite, for moving from Israel to somewhere else, is Yordaniah. Or something like that. Yordansomething. Aliyah means going up, and yordanwhatever means going down. Same root word as the Jordan River, since you've got to walk downhill to get to the river.)
I had my first CSA pickup today! I got scallions, garlic scapes, sorrel, pac choi, basil, chives, and salad greens. Now I've got to figure out what to do with all of this.
(Until that day in health class where they make you look at slides of blackened, cyst-ridden lungs. Almost as much fun as the horrible livers of alcoholics!)
In Australia you don't have to rely on health class: (Warning: kind of graphic) [link] [link]
Why am I arguing with "Vegans are killing their children!" people? I need to step away from this argument.
Timelies all!
I can hear the rumble of thunder in the background, but it hasn't started raining yet.
It looked like all hell was going to break loose at 6:15, so we rescheduled the futon pickup. And so far, threatening was as much as it got. Ah well, it probably would have poured otherwise. But I'm getting rid of the old futon mattress tomorrow! Yay!
It's thundering here too. Bring it on!
because it's hard to get people behind preventing a cancer that many view as the "fault" of the victim.
My sister had lung cancer about 10 years ago. She never even tried smoking. Her doctors all said it was caused by smoking - her father's smoking. She never was interested in the habit, but she smoked involuntarily the 18 years she lived with Dad. My mother never smoked either, but she has significantly diminished lung capacity for the same reason - 39 years of involuntary smoking. Dad died of lung cancer. And I smoked for many years too. Hope I got the good gene set.
Step away from the crazies, Hil. One of the doctors I interviewed for a pediatrician when I was expecting Brendon said he would refuse to be a doctor for child of a vegetarian mother. Yeah, like I was going to choose you, dude.
I have to motivate myself to go out to the bookstore and pick up the textbook we're going to use in class tomorrow. But it is just so nice out here on the patio that I don't want to move a muscle -- it's just this side of warm enough not to sweat and there's a mockingbird trying to see if he can run out of songs.
