I think the question is *why* I would want to do pushups.
We're amusing Kat, I think. (We all ask to be amused at some point here so...)
I can do more than 16 (I'm 40 later this year), probably because of the yoga and pilates. I even have those perfect pushup things, because I am a huge sucker for that kind of exercise equipment (and it does make it easier on my wrists).
Hey sumi and Plei, what did you think about the Belmont?
I've been feeling oddly motivated to improve my fitness before my next birthday (I'm also 40 later this year). My job is often pretty physical, but I'm trying to get in the habit of practicing pilates more regularly.
lisa makes me laugh and laugh. also go bowm chica bow bowm.
I am appalling at pushups. Quite dramatically bad. Give me exercises that involve quads and abs and I can give you a run for your money, but my pushups are made of fail. My clavicles feel like they're going to collapse.
ita, aren't you lacking a muscle that is sort of integral to pushups? One would think that that would excuse you from them.
I can probably do 15-20 real pushups. (I can do more if they're the girlie kind.)
I'm still working on the pull up issue.

Nah. I was just genuinely curious. Absent being in a PE class, I have no idea how many pushups are reasonable.

I'm quite certain that I shall go to my grave never having achieved so much as a single pull up. And, by now, I'm pretty well at peace with it.
I'm unsure about my pushup limit, and unwilling to test it on a day with a high of 88°. But for pull ups you'd need to have a bear willing to chase me into a tree to find out.
