Huh. We have a seiche warning in effect. I had to read the article to find out what that is....
The National Weather Service on Sunday afternoon warned people to evacuate docks, piers and break walls along the Lake Michigan shore in Cook County, saying dangerous flooding could be imminent.
The thunderstorm that moved through the Chicago area Sunday afternoon pushed Lake Michigan water ahead of it so that lake levels dropped by about 2 feet, triggering a warning from the National Weather Service for people along the lake shore to beware of when that water comes sloshing backāan effect called a "seiche."
"It's kind of like when you slosh water in a bathtub," said weather service meteorologist Mark Ratzer.
The seiche warning remains in effect along the Cook County shore until 9 p.m.

I am in the Seattle airport, after a fun weekend. I need a transporter though because I hate knowing that the weekend is over but I won't be home for 5 hours.
Parts of the Maritimes (hundreds of miles away from where I am) have had tornado watches today. Tornados are totally unheard of here.
Shit. The Mets are getting swept by the fucking Padres.
A's got swept by their bitter rivals, the Angels.
Matilda is napping. Emmett's playing nintendo and watching HIMYM.

How bizarre. I'd never heard of that.
How bizarre. I'd never heard of that.
It's a wonder all us Chicagoistas have not been carried off by seiches....
And I like walking on the break walls!
mr. flea's cousin in Indiana sent us a picture of the immense catfish he found lying on the sidewalk (after their flooding). It really needs to be made a Lolfish, captioned, "Whut?"
All we've got for wacky weather is the 4rd day in a row of near 100 degrees. And two more coming. And 90s for the rest of the week. I hate the South.
I wonder how you pronounce "seiche"?
I just watched that Natalie Portman rapping on SNL video, and I don't think it is funny at all. I didn't even smile. I think I will go rewatch 'Dick in a Box".
