"In the equation E = mc⬧, c⬧ is a pretty big honking number." - Scola

Not to be a whiny liberal or something, but occasionally I'd like to hang out in an environment where "I read an article about this key figure in terrorism" is not a conversation-ender.

Help me out here, hivemind -- has anyone heard anything about Obama supporting "Muslim schools" which is NOT about his primary school in Indonesia? One of my coworkers thinks this (to which I replied, "Well, we have Jewish schools and Christian schools, so...") but it's proving impossible to Google.

Will Dylan get to meet her, too?

Yup! We're going to SF for a wedding and the Zmayhems have graciously offered to babysit while we're at the ceremony.

I hardly ever get to actually tell you that or respond to the pictures, but, oh, my, he's just so adorable!

Thank you!

Hmmm, I might have to suddenly find myself in that neighborhood just to see those two together.

It sounds likely that you're going to be able to enjoy the show with extra elbow room on one side of your seat tonight, Daisy.

Wait, so who will be taking pictures?

Um, I mean, that's so great! Going to a wedding at the other coast and having not just wonderful babysitters, but also a baby only a bit older to interact with. I love that.

She'll probably still go, just show up right before and leave right after. She did this to our other friend last week with a SITC thing. Didn't make it to the snacks and tv marathon hanging with the girls bit. Showed up 5 min before the movie and left right after (I wasn't there, so I'm not sure exactly what the excuse was).

The wedding's on a Friday (08/08/08 - the groom is Chinese), so we'll have most of the rest of the weekend free to hang with the SFistas.

Dad is out of surgery, according to my mom, "just fine." That's one hurdle done.

Tomorrow the teacher's union is promoting a walkout. I'm sort of a sub, but still a union member and, most importantly, I'm returning here next year. What would you all do? Walkout?

Kat, that's good news. My father was up and walking around within 24 hours after his quadruple bypass surgery, so it's a good bet that you'll be able to talk to him soon.

As for the walkout, I'd probably do what the other union members at the school do.
