How do you feel about giant flying roaches, Pete?
The very thought of them makes me squirm.
We, thankfully, don't get too many Palmetto bugs. The school, however, always seems to be always fighting them...rats or mice too. (Hmmm, another things to dislike about that place.) My old house in north Florida always seemed to attract 1-2 roaches a week. Hub HATES roaches. It's one of the few thinks that truly freak him out.
Happy Birthday, scrappy!!!
OK, today's XKCD is a hoot
Seriously! It made me do my loud donkey laugh.
Says the woman who once hollered for her husband to remove a (really, it was huge!) spider from the shower curtain because it was looking at her.
I ask The Boy to kill all large and/or crunchy bugs. Mostly because I can. (What? For 36 years I never had anyone to kill bugs for me before. You think I'm not going to take full advantage now?)
ION, I'm getting photographed after work for the billboard. They want me in casual clothes, preferably solid colors. I can do that, man! I'm ALL ABOUT casual clothes! Prolly a white blouse and tan pants.
They're sending along a makeup person and a hair person; the account rep who I talked with said that I can do my own hair and makeup and then if I need touch-ups the makeup and hair people can take care of it, OR they can fix me up from scratch. Since I don't know what makeup looks best in photos (on a huge billboard, no less), I'm going to let them do my makeup for me. As for my hair, well, I don't give a damn and would probably put it in pigtails if given my druthers, so I guess I'll let them deal with my hair also.
I'm very VERY tired today because I didn't get enough sleep last night (and believe me, I tried, since I knew I had to be well-rested for this), and because I'm still taking Flexiril for my cranky back muscles (yes, I appreciate the irony). And I definitely LOOK as tired as I feel.
Thank god for Photoshop.
Sometimes I think of global warming pushing palmetto bugs as far north as NYC and the only thing that comforts me is the thought that maybe Manhattan will be underwater by that time, making the giant flying roaches a moot point.
I *really* *really* hate them. To the point where I can sometimes suppress my lizard-brain spiderphobia by telling myself that spiders eat roaches.
Tep, the beginning of the billboard story must have happened while I was away. Fill me in!
Oh, meara! So sorry about the job news.
Prolly a white blouse and tan pants.
the white blouse might wash you out. I might take a few options for them to choose from.
Meara, I'm sorry to hear about your job. I think it says less about your luck and more about the state of the economy, though.
Still, you've gotten some warning and that gives you time to start looking while still employed.
ugh, meara! I'm so sorry.
meara - what Pete said. Pete is wise. and you are not bad luck.

Fortunately (?) they're coming to my house to take the picture. (I know, weird, right? I even asked them if they had a studio I could go to, because our house is small and, frankly, an utter disaster zone. They said that no, they don't have a studio, and people love having them come to their houses because it's "convenient." Well, whatever.) So if they don't like the white shirt, they can go through my closet if they want to.
(((meara))) I'm so sorry. What everyone else said, blame the economy not yourself.
