"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

(((Ginger))) Feel better soon.

Yay, new job Erin!

Home from vacation. Ordered wedding bands today. Very tired.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I came home to find a big box of clothes from Stephanie for Matilda.

It's always cool knowing she's wearing cute things from Elle and Casper.

Matilda dug into the box immediately and tried on a new dress and jacket (with holly on it? cherries?) and a sweater. Just layered up and grabbed JZ's hand and dragged her outside to show it off.

We had Emmett's friend Jack over last night. He's been bugging us for a sleepover because he's totally enamored with Matilda. He wants a little sister so bad. Anyway, they played with her for hours yesterday until she conked out.

When I picked her up today she asked, "Obbie?" And I had to tell her, no, Obbie was with his mom (Emmie). "Zhack?" she inquired hopefully.

Ackackack. Man, little sisters & big brothers can be so heartmelting. A best friend has a 3 y.o. daughter and a 15 y.o. stepson. The kids' devotion to each other completely does me in. It's lovely to see it is at least not an unknown phenom. Me & my brother were never that nice to each other in our youth, but we were much closer in age.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Jilli, this month's Lucky has a "Goth" trend section. I just read it. It uses the phrase "spooky-alluring" to describe a cameo on a ribbon as a bracelet.

It's v. silly!

“Not dead yet!”

You were on Today, right. Barab? I just read about it, a bit, in Smart Bitches!

I was a random body they managed to snag, along with author Lisa Kleypas. We had to look "dreamy" and then they superimposed images of hot guys above our heads. (Relative thing, since I got Patrick Dempsey and for me, NSM with the hotness, but whatev.)

The gist of that bit was that what were we fantasizing about-- was it the hot guys? No! It was meeting all the authors we loved at the RWA Literacy Signing.

::grin::

Maybe one of these days one of my books will actually make it onto Today but for now, I'm content.

And thanks, sail-- considering how fast I had to get ready, I'm frankly amazed it all wound up looking so decent in the end.

Oh lord. I'll have to remember to look at it the next time I'm in a bookstore.

Heh. Matilda has now layered three hoodies on top of each other.

She looks like a fashionable hunchback.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Woohoo for Erin's new job!

Barb is a beautiful woman in a beautiful dress.

The know-it-all on one of my Regency lists just treated me to a lecture on...wait for it...the Duke of Wellington. Was it anything I didn't already know? Oh, hells no. I know I'm not wearing a sign that says, "Wellington Expert," but I had mentioned in that very thread that I'd read so many Wellington bios that I'd internalized his and his family's history. And you'd think she'd eventually notice what the other group regulars know well.

ETA that sounds cattier than I meant it to--really, I'm laughing, and wishing I could post a picture of my research library to that loop.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

So, came home to a scary thing. Apparently the rug at my front door caught in the door on my way out this morning so I came home to find my front door propped open. Little scary coming in.

yay Erin. I have some old journalism books if you want to borrow.

Yanks lost on walk off grand slam. Sad. Now stuck in traffic. 30 min and still not on freeway.
