Yeah, I wouldn't pay 160 bucks for that, let along 1600.
I had the same thought. Um. Only my thought was $16. But that's probably more a reflection of my Scroogelike sense of what things should cost - the prospect of a light fitting costing more than 50 quid seems shocking to me.
(If I'd ever had to go shopping for light fittings, of course, this might not be the case.)
Thank you for the happy wishes guys! You made my day. I got to go to the symphony, which was lovely, and then to dinner with the Gregory, and then we came home and chatted with Nick who was babysitting and is now as tired as I am so we're all going to bed. It's been a lovely day. Tomorrow we're all going to the county fair.
o_a, you can send him the snopes link if you think it will do any good.
I sent a note to all on the list that said:
Howdy gang, I hardly doubt multi-millions of dollars would be raised and spent if this wasn't probed first! Let's keep the false allegations, whisper campaigns, fear mongering to a minimum. It doesn't take long to research these items. One quick look on Snopes.com is the easiest. The political season is bad enough. Let's focus on truth, and things that bring us together. Anyhow, here is the link from snopes.com:
Yadda yadda yadda. I doubt it will work. Crazy Uncle will keep sending me BS right wing crazy crap.
Thanks for the snopes link. I wasn't at my desk, so I didn't feel like doing the research yet.
Last minute happy birthday to you, Deena.
Fay, no, I probably wouldn't pay $16 for it either but I wouldn't pitch a fit if Jilli came home with one for $16. Any raising of the decimal point however... NSM.
But even then, it would still be useless unless you have $15 high ceilings and could manage to look at it daily without feeling like you'd been robbed.
Happy birthday, Deena!
but I wouldn't pitch a fit if Jilli came home with one for $16. Any raising of the decimal point however... NSM.
Gnnng. I doubt even my mad thrifting skills would be able to turn up the batty lamp for $16.
Yup, I know, so I never have to see it in our house.
Bloody ugly thing.
(am suddenly struck with the urge to build a batty lamp).
Thanks Pete and Jilli.
I should be in bed, but the dog needed to go out and tomorrow is garbage pick-up day and my meds were on my desk... temptingly near the keyboard.
Edit: really going to bed now, but Jilli, look at this! [link]
Oh, now
that's
adorable. And not pricey!
(pssst...HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, DEENA!)
