"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

..and she's playing a mom in an upcoming series, "The Secret Life Of An American Teenager"

That show has been airing for a few weeks already. On ABC Family.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Or would that be like looking up at the tall buildings in NYC?

Hey now! Our tall buildings are awesome and totally deserve to be stared at. Just don't do it from the *middle* of the sidewalk.

I got a haircut yesterday from a new stylist (my old one has left the salon and I couldn't afford to wait until I tracked her down because I'm going to a wedding on Friday), and I'm really not happy with how it turned out. It's not a bad cut, exactly, but it's really not *me*. It's very...flat and conservative. I think I look like Hillary Clinton. DH says it looks good, but he's not a reliable judge of these things. Maybe after I fix the color it will be ok.

(The tricky part is that I need it to look neat for the wedding but I'm also trying to grow it out, so she didn't take off very much length, just trimmed the flippy things off the side and made my bangs not look like bunny ears. But the shape is SO not what I'm used to wearing. I'm hoping it's just the way she styled it, and that after I wash it today it will sort itself out.)

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Thanks for the ma, people. The power just came back on, right after my neighbor, who got power a couple of hours ago, had invited me to breakfast.

The evening got worse. At midnight, I proceeded to projectile vomit (This was the third time I've thrown up since 1973.) over the hall, the bathroom, a bunch of prescription pills, my gown and my hair. Being unable to see to clean, I just covered the floor with everything in my linen closet, which I'll have to throw in the washing machine when I get back from breakfast. Then I took a bath and went back to bed, and I really felt better then. Now I'm just a little shaky. One think I discovered: Terrible stomach cramps are much harder to bear without mindless television.

It was a hugely loud and long storm, which terrified the dog, and then he was scared again by the dark and the flashlight. Also, he could obviously tell there was something wrong with me. Poor little dog.

Oh, Ginger, what an awful night! I'm glad you're feeling better, if a little shaky. Poor Mr. Peabody, too. I think you two need more snuggle time, with the lights on!

Oh, Ginger. That sounds just miserable. You're feeling better, though?

It looks like my cell phone got water damage yesterday during our storm (when I decided to make a run for my car from Target because it wasn't letting up). I can't afford a new phone. Grrr...

Oh ugh Ginger. I hope this all passes soon.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Oh, Ginger, that sounds miserable.

One of the nice things about yesterdays game is that we had a huge turnout from the other Albany all-star teams. We had about six kids from the 12 y.o. team, and we had almost the entire 10 y.o. team out there.

Several of the 10 y.o.'s were on Emmett's team last year, so it was good to see Jordan and Eli and Liam. And the 12's were teammates in majors this year, so we all knew them as well.

There were parents there whose kids were very active in Albany LL ten years ago, just showing up because we were playing for our first state title.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Isn't that a great feeling, that support of the community? With K-Bug's varsity team, I was always surprised when we would go to away games and NO parents from the other team would be there. For our play off and NCS games, the boys baseball team and others from the school community would come and cheer. Nothing like a freaking STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, but that larger sense of team is awesome. I woulda been there in a heartbeat! Still all bouncy when I think about what they have accomplished.
