The idiom that's been bothering me is possibly a regional VA thing; it's not Bureaucratic Bullshit Bingo anyway. It's dropping "to be" after "needs" but not adding an "-ing" to the second verb.
Totally a regional thing. I speak like that (being Born and Raised in Richmond) but would never write it. Cuz i been schooled.
The one that always whipps me into a kerfluffle (and is also, i supect, regional) is "i'm gonna learn you..." when the speaker means "i am going to teach you..." and usually is leading up to some form of corporal punishment. That really really bothers me. "That is an intransitive verb! You are using it as a transitive verb! Doesn't it sound like fingernails on a chalkboard to you also?!?!"
Clothes panic ahead...
I haven't worked in a professional setting for over five years. I have a suit to wear for interviews and a few things that I would consider business-wear. But, it's summer. I should be able to get away with cute skirts and niceish tops, right? It's just that having to buy a whole new wardrobe would kind of defeat the purpose of getting a high-paying summer temp job.
I have no fashion advice.
Hand jobs R Fun! Yeah sometimes it's all you have time for and sometimes it's just fun. And sometimes you start off with that and tease and then go to other things.
Omigod I haven't had sex in so long, if it weren't for fanfiction and, um, other things I'd totally forget what it's like.
he he ... I was on another board and they were flabbergasted to discover that there was Stephanie Plum fanfic. Isn't there fanfic for EVERYTHING?
VW- i've been temping (in Portland, granted, but still....) and for months got away with one nice pair of slacks, a couple of clean skirts, and a four nice tops. Plus a super nice blazer that is now 4 sizes too small so i can't button it but it still looks swanky and sharp for interviews as long as i leave it open :) Now that i'm somewhere for months, i've started scoping Nordstrom rack on my lunch breaks to pick up a couple of office-appropriate (i.e. not "Hello boobies!") dresses and some more variety of tops so that i'm not wearing the same outfits every week. Most places hiring temps don't demand full suits. Or even heels :)
Or even heels
Well, they're not getting heals. They'll get my mary jane clogs just like everyone else. This place does require suits, though. I know that. I've got one suit and another blazer. I'm sure it will be fine.
Not flabbergasted, but a bit surprised.
What? Is there an alternate universe where Stephanie does more than chase guys and eat coffee cake?
No offense.
But fanfic?
They require all employees wear suits? Jeez. I have never heard of that and it sucks.

Well, I don't know about for every position, but they certainly have positions where it is required (the higher-paid positions). And it is definitely required for all interviews.
The Aunts are always saying that I remind them of Stephanie Plum. Not for any of the good reasons - mostly just the ditzy and clumsy moments.
Oh, erin_obscure, are you still looking into testing to become a 911 operator? Or were you? I know someone mentioned it a while back and I asked the boyfriend about it (he's a deputy sheriff but he used to manage the 911 operators a few years ago.) He had some decent tips and interesting insights which I'd be happy to share in email. (I just took a vicodin so I don't fully trust my brain right now.)
