Hey, sug. Work blechhies.
Spike's Bitches 41: Thrown together to stand against the forces of darkness
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Bitches question - my dance troupe is getting ready to start a monthly event at a local bar. It's going to be a little bit cabaret, a little bit Weimar Berlin, a little bit Romantic. It can basically be summed up as "Glitter and Doom" but that's the name of Tom Waits' current tour. Any ideas for a name with a similar vibe?

Oh, megan, ugh. I'm sorry. FWIW, if I were a straight man the only thing stopping me from dating you would be assuming right from the get-go that you were out of my league, and never getting up the nerve to ask in the first place.
eta: And if you want to come over tonight or tomorrow for drinks and empathy, say the word.
lisah, that comic book is genius! Almost enough to make me wish I actually knew any McCain supporters. Also (I'm only asking because even though I recognize most of the factoids from recent news reports, I can totally see the crapweasels reading it and raising nitpicky objections) your friend will add a list of cites at the end so no one can wriggle out of it and wail about unsourced accusations, yes?

Oh, I'm sure he will. He's pretty thorough.
I want that 'zine and would be willing to pay. I hope he'll be selling it online or something.

Oh, yes indeed. He's co-owner of Atomic Books.
Thanks JZ. I may take you up on it tomorrow.
I know that it wasn't the healthiest relationship and I'm well rid of him, so part of me is like, whatev'. And I knew that he had started dating someone pretty seriously so it's not a total surprise.
Still, it's sort of a sucker punch when someone that was totally relationship-challenged and a true commitmentphobe (who could barely handle me staying with him in the 4 days that I was between apts when I was moving) is married less than a year later.
It's sadly reminiscent of when I was first out of college and I had three boyfriends in a row get engaged shortly after dating me. My friends in NY joked that I should hire myself out to Jewish mothers looking for their sons to settle down.

ugh. I know this feeling.

Oh, MM, you saucy fella. Love it. I'd been trying to think of something that rhymes with 'mal' (as in 'fleurs du...').
megan, yuck. that's such an icky feeling, i am sadly acquainted with it. it always reminds me of When Harry Met Sally when Sally sobs, "Why didn't he want to marry *me*?"
