Spike's Bitches 41: Thrown together to stand against the forces of darkness

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Ann, that's a ferret.

In all fairness, Susan has made her family's none-too-easy financial situation clear from her postings on this board. And that the money from this inheritance is more a ticket to the economic middle class than fun money. So I won't begrudge her anxiety.

And Susan, my apologies if I'm speaking out of turn.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I'd complain. But then I always complain when people don't do what they promise. and possibly think about changing who I do business with -- when possible,of course.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I would like to make myself clear. I do not begrudge anyone windfalls of any sort, and I understand that money is a stressful thing and the stock market exponentially so. I do not want anyone to wonder what is too First World to post and what is not.

However, there are a lot of people for whom repeated posts over a long period of time about windfalls not moving as fast as they should are like unto rock salt in a really deep wound - people who also have really hard (sometimes desperate) financial situations but do not feel comfortable sharing such things on a public board. That's what I feel some people are responding to today.

Which I get, juliana, but I don't exactly think of my inheritance as free money. I paid far too steep a price for it.

To be honest, megan? I didn't realize your inheritance was still tied up. I am very sorry for that.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I'm sorry I rubbed salt into anyone's wounds. That was never my intent.

Our wings are not tired.

Heh. I paid a steep price for being in my family, and I didn't even get an inheritance. Damn, I need to fire my agent.

To be clear, I don't begrudge anxiety, either.

Grrr. Asshole. You know *he'd* be outraged if he didn't get something due him in a timely manner because someone couldn't be assed to sign his name.

Those are Susan's words. And it was this sentence in particular that prompted me to post.

And I later edited this post, and deleted her quote, because I saw that Susan apologized. However, now that I've thought about it, I am going to leave it as is. Because if Susan had expressed her anxiety in any other way than calling someone an asshole? It would be a different scenario.

This isn't about telling someone to stop whining about diamond shoes being too tight, or measuring "first world" problems. It's about calling someone out when they're sharing every single detail of a private financial matter, and not understanding that for many on the board, the utter impatience is bordering on entitlement.

And I stand by that. And I stand by my right to say "dude, calm it. You're very lucky to get out from under your debt, and we're all happy for you, but calling someone an asshole because your money isn't happening fast enough for you? That's annoying."
