Thrive to spite them

Congrats GC! That's so awesome!

I have some good ish pet news. After watching Anna all weekend and seeing that she seemed to be perking up since on the antibiotics I called and talked to the vet.

The vet was very sweet (and also sounded like she was a teenager on the phone) and explained that if I give Anna thyroid medicine (she has hyperthyriodism or whatever it's called) and she DOES NOT have kidney disease she could live a long time, maybe a year or more who knows.

If she does have kidney disease her kidneys will get worse and I can treat that but it sounds expensive and maybe not worth it.

So, I'm giving her medicine for 3 weeks and take her in for blood work and go from there.

Anyone have experience with cats with kidney disease, preferable really old, Anna is 19. Mostly I want her to be comfortable.

I had something else to say but I forgot

My cat, Josie, had kidney disease for 7 years. She lived to 14. It is what finally did her in (sob), but up until about 4 or 5 months ago, it was really not a big deal to care for her. I had to administer fluids a few times a week, which she didn't really like, but it didn't affect her quality of life at all. She was happy purry kitty. Whatever happens, all the best. {{{}}}

Thanks Glam.

I'm not going to make any decisions until I after her vet appt in three weeks. And I'm going to see if the medicine I have for her works.

I fell like I should be petting her and cuddling her right now, but she jumped off my lap and wandered away a little while ago.

But I can see a difference, she one of her toy mousies on the bed, so I think she was playing with it. And she's sleeping back up on the bed during the day and not just on the floor.

I'm really sorry about Josie. I know how hard it is and your new kitty doesn't replace her, but how is the new kitten doing?

Thanks, askye. New kitty is doing well. She is sleeping in my lap as I type this. Her eye has cleared up nicely and she is starting to get less skittish. Still really tiny!

Now tagless for your comfort.

Congrats, Glamcookie!

I decided to cook burgers on the George Foreman with a can of baked beans and some steamed veggies. The chicken will be for tomorrow night. But I think I'm going to julienne veggies (cucumbers, carrots, etc.)and serve the chicken and veggies over a bed of lettuce.

That sounds yummy.

I have decided that it is too hot to ever cook again. I made pesto tonight, but even boiling the water for the pasta was just too hot. We need to buy an AC.
