I still haven't heard anything. I'm going to wait until 9 a.m., then call.

If the coworkers ask about the 10 hour days, can't you just say "We discussed it, and decided I am going part time, 32 hours a week"? Then it makes it sound like your decision, rather than theirs.

But then I expect my co-workers to follow up with "But WHY are you going part-time?" Well,*some* wouldn't pry, but most would. Everyone is always all up in each other's business.

If they ask *why,* I'm going to just smile and say, "Personal reasons."

I *think* that Big!Boss's daughter will e-mail everyone a list of everyone else's hours, because everyone was given a choice of what 10-hour shift they want to work, and Big!Boss's daughter wants everyone to know when everyone else is available instead of just wondering.

So I figure THAT should take care of people wondering if I'm part time or just trying to shaft the company out of money by coming in late and leaving early.

So, yippee. It all starts today. Gotta roll out the door in a few minutes, because it would look bad to be late on my first day of You're Lucky To Even HAVE A Job, You Slacker.

In dog news, it occurred to me that there probably isn't HIPAA for pets, so I called the vet. Apparently Sophie was never examined by a doctor. So, I imagine her mom waited quite a while then decided to just take her home and take her to her regular vet. I'm going to call at 9am and see if my hunch is correct. I feel a little better about that scenario, though I feel badly that I took Sophie to a place that made them wait so long...

So, I just talked to Sophie's mom. I was at least partially right. She waited for a while, then put her on the leash and walked her around a bit. She said she could tell she was really sore, but it didn't seem like anything was broken, so she just took her home after talking to one of the nurses. And they even helped the mom put Sophie in the car (I was REALLY impressed with this Animal ER).

So, anyways, I'm going to go check on her at noontime.

I do not want to be here.

It is a decision by crazy people that will have the fortunate side-effect of moving you towards getting a job where people do appreciate your talents.
