Every planet has its own weird customs. About a year before we met, I spent six weeks on a moon where the principal form of recreation was juggling geese. My hand to God. Baby geese. Goslings. They were juggled.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

ION, if/when the money comes through, I'm thinking of buying myself something like this. (We've set aside specific amounts for "Woohoo! We can finally buy stuff again):

The one with the leather. Only I can't tell if it compares to what my characters might've carried, which is my geeky goal, because so far Googling hasn't turned up any antique reproduction spyglasses/telescopes that are specific to year and design.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Susan, you might be tangentially interested - and I know there are fans of sharp pointy things on the board, although I can't remember all the names - I saw a Nova thing about samurai swords. It was a detailed explanation of the process of making one, filming Japanese craftsmen, everything from smelting the iron through the final sword.

There was also a section on a grand master swordsman; his daughter is also training. As an example of how good HE is, she fired a couple of arrows at him and he cut them in half while they were flying at him!

My step-dad took some pictures of his house and mine. Otter Lake pics here [link]

Lovely wedding pics - Em is quite the lovely little lady. I don't dare show the picture to DH because he will remind me that I didn't give him daughters to spoil and fuss over. (he would be so wrapped)

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Seriously, that needs to be a web comic.

Technically, it already is.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

F2F Otter Lake!!!

Dear me... since summer break started, I've been good about going to bed by 1 or 2 and getting up by 10 every day (and for an avowed night person, this is good). Last night, I couldn't fall asleep until about 3:30 and ended up sleeping until 1:30. Seriously. That's not good.

I went to the doc last week and got my thyroid levels checked and sure enough, they're off quite a bit. Upped my meds and we'll see how it goes. Hopefully I will have more energy soon.

Our wings are not tired.

Much to my shock and surprise I have morphed into a morning person. The deer picture was from 6:15 this morning. I haven't quite stopped trying to stay up at night, but I start nodding out by 10pm. Pathetic.

Yeah, us too, Laura.

I'll have to look for that--sounds really cool.
