Spike's Bitches 41: Thrown together to stand against the forces of darkness

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I read the obit for Harvey Korman this morning. At one point, he was contemplating why he wasn't really star material and said, "Give me something bizarre to do ... or put me in a dress" and he was good. He may have been one of us. (I can think of no higher praise.)

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

my first official leadership position! Shiny!

Tres shiny!

DH was almost offered a job in Allentown once. Fortunately the paper's budget got gutted at the last minute and they had to hire him as a freelancer instead, which meant (for us) that we got the money anyway AND didn't have to move to Allentown. (Which I've always been curious about on a "Why does it show up in so many Broadway musicals?" level, but not enough to want to live there.)

And since this is the clutter/organization thread, I present to you a completely awesome blog that will allow you to pretend like you're getting rid of clutter while you're actually just fucking around on the internet.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

"Why does it show up in so many Broadway musicals?"

Middle America, but close enough to NY that even the most insular never-leave-NY types have heard of it?

(I should note that this isn't meant as any kind of slam -- my Dad grew up in Allentown and it's still always Grandma's place in my mind -- so I have a certain fondness for the joint even if I wouldn't want to live there as an adult.)

I can't even hear the name without thinking "I offer you the starring role in the biggest musical to hit Broadway in 20 years and you say Allentown????"

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

my first official leadership position! Shiny!

Yay, Kristin!!! Woot!

And, look at me! I'm all posty at work! At WORK, people!! ita, thank you so much for pointing me to the .net site. I had no idea it existed and have been b.org-less at work for months. I feel downright giddy this morning!

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

BTW, Kristin, congratulations on the leadership position. May it not remain financially unrewarding for long.

Ok, cakes for the three-layer carrot cake are out of the oven. Apartment is completely swept (which was a chore, actually). Break now. Then mopping!

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Went to college in Allentown. If I had found a job there I would have stayed. Not a bad place not far from philly or NYC. For suburbia- tons of theater. Including the first stop for all show starting their runs after leaving Broadway. Rodale Press is there, too. 2 4 year colleges in town -- plus a whole bunch of other in the area.

yay for kristin !

Yay for MM!
