I don't know of any destination choice that doesn't cost fuel that gives us distance. Not saying there isn't one.
Sorry to interrupt the current discussion, but just as a point of interest, there are a few choices here. Ragnar Anchorage costs 0 Fuel. There's a new Pegasus Destination, Gas Cloud, that also costs 0 Fuel. Exodus adds a Gas Giant where no only do you lose 0 Fuel, you have the option to gain more. These are all 1 Distance destinations. There's also another destination, Misjump, that costs 0 Fuel - but it gives you 0 Distance too.

That is correct. Scientific Research can make Blue positive; At Any Cost can make Treachery positive.

That is correct. They will help you pass the check, but there may be a cost to it.
