You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Helo starts the action.

Actually, Destiny starts the action. What do the Gods have in store for us?

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Destiny Deck: B2, G3 (+1, fail so far, but at least on the plus side!)

Since I'm giddy about my imminent return to Galactica, I'll play a G3 into this check.

While we're waiting (and since I finally get a real turn like the manly man that I am) some questions:
My special character turn ability is rerolling a die. Does this count as an action? I don’t think so, but I want to confirm that if I complete an action during the action step, I can still reroll later.

I don’t normally pilot vipers, but I have piloting in my skill check. If I launch myself into a viper from the Hangar Deck, am I a “worse” pilot than Apollo or Starbuck, or does that just depend on my red cards?

If it's alright with everyone, I'll opt out of this check to hold onto my cards, since I'm running low and others said they can handle it. I apologize if that ends up screwing us over.

Megan: Your re-roll is not an action--it's a conditional ability you can activate anytime you or someone else rolls a die on your turn (but only once).

IIRC, Helo does get a piloting token, ergo he can pilot a viper. Helo's reroll ability makes him a valuable pilot, since firing a viper's weapons involves rolling dice. He can be the difference between success and failure in fending off raiders.

The "worst" pilot would actually be Boomer, since she has no character abilities that can be used directly while piloting.

Apollo and Starbuck have a lot of flexibility, each in their own way, but aren't "better" than anyone else. I would say Starbuck is pretty awesome for her extra action, but Helo's reroll ability is way up there too.

Helo can pilot, and his reroll can help with that (although it's just as useful if he XOs another pilot, or activates Command or Weapons Control). His main weakness is simply that he draws half the amount of Red as the pilots, which means fewer MFs.

I think Apollo is the best pilot. His AVP ability, over the course of the game, is likely to mean more extra actions than Starbuck's Expert Pilot ability. (I think too that the more players there are, the better Apollo becomes.) Boomer I would put over Helo, because she's more likely to be carrying an MF at any point in time, but unlike Apollo and Starbuck she doesn't have any special abilities that make her better.

Heh. I just read a session review of BSG that offered the following advice:

Sometimes, the best way to earn somebody's trust is to falsely accuse them, throw them to the Brig, and steal their title.

From which I think we can gather that there is more than one way to play this game.

We're now 7 away from passing. To the Chief and Apollo, if you want to throw in a bit here that's ok, but I think you can leave the rest to the President and myself.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

BSG

I'll happily hang onto my cards, if you don't think they're needed. I'm desperately low and I'm not going to help the check much anyway.
