I've seen ads for Aion, but haven't played it.
Warhammer: I've played it a few times now. I still think it's really fiddly and space-dependent. You seem to spend a lot of time tapping cards and turning markers over and moving bits around. And that doesn't count the minis.
I like a lot about it. It's grungy and messy and very much not high-fantasy, and there are several creative mechanics. But I don't think I'd start kids on it before about age 10 (at the earliest).
I know what RPG stands for but what about MMO? I know the concept, I'm just wondering about the acronym.
MMO = Massively Multiplayer Online (hence the redundancy)
I'm quite familiar with the setting for Warhammer. I own both the first and second editions, but the third is a huge departure from a system standpoint. That was actually one of my favorite things about the setting. It's a bit like Call of Cthulhu in the sense that there are monsters out there, but you will seldom encounter one, and if you do your best course of action is to run like hell. No, the greatest evils you generally encounter are other people.
Exactly. And exactly on the huge departure which is the third edition. I like it, I do, but I think it takes an experienced gamer to manage it, and I find that it's harder to maintain the group hallucination.
Hey BSG gamers. I'm back from vacation and straight into landlord issues but I should know this week whether we will have to move. I will let you all know as soon as possible whether I can run the next game.
Sorry to hear about the landlord issues. Hope it gets worked out okay (and not just because I want to play BSG.)
Would you guys like to start playing and maybe have to take an indefinite break in two weeks or hold off until my housing situation solidifies?
My vote would be to wait until you get things taken care of, Laga. (Unless the game would be a welcome distraction.)
I wouldn't be able to join a game until after April 28th anyway.
I wouldn't be able to join until after I'm on the road. The next few weeks will be a bit chaotic.
