I used to always choose human for that extra feat but lately I've been trying all sorts of races including dragonborn and goliath.

Yeah humans got good starting in 3rd Ed with the extra feat and skill points. (Whereas in 1st and 2nd Ed they were pretty lame.) The games I play in/run we don't monkey with non-standard races too much, and I personally don't care for the way Dragonborn are written up in 4th Ed. They seem too much like scaly Klingons.
I don't know, it definitely would have made sense from both an RP and mechanics perspective for my current Paladin of Bahamut to be a Dragonborn, but the race just didn't really do it for me, so I went with human again. (We just added a Dragonborn Warlord to the party, but prior to that the only non-human in our group was the halfling rogue.)
I'm having a lot of fun with my paladin, though. I semi-modeled him after Aquaman on Batman: The Brave and the Bold (complete with Int of 8 and the constantly speaking in a heroic timbre) and so far have managed to keep him entertaining enough to the rest of the party that their very-mercenary group of louts haven't knifed him in his sleep yet.
Anyone picking up Dragon Age? It looks pretty cool, but I don't know where I'd find the time to dedicate to CRPG. "Spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate" catches my interest, though.
Me! Exactly because of the "spiritual successor" bit. BG/BG2 was great.

I deliberately made my first 4th ed character a dragonborn because I thought they were immensely goofy, and felt that was the part of the new edition I meeded to engage with. I wound up with a guy who cares little about honour, and more about sampling every edible creature in the Monster Manual (except plants, does he look like an omnivore to you?)
I got my copy in the mail. BG2 stands as pretty much my favorite computer game. I've got it installed on my SSD for speedy loading and have only played it a bit. It feels a bit like BG2 only graphically way updated. I don't have loads of time to play, so I imagine that like BG2, it'll last me a couple of years.

Yeah. I understand that. I never did finish BG1 and it took me well over a year to finish BG2 (and I lost interest somehwere in the middle of Throne of Bhaal). I also have partial game of Knights of the Old Republic sitting on my hard drive somewhere as well. The games are really good, just very time consuming.
I'm just sad that it doesn't appear to be co-op. That's how we played BG/BG2/Icewind Dale - I ran 3 of the characters and the DH ran 3 of the characters.
This led to one of the funniest gaming moments ever, still brings tears to my eyes: My cleric had Blade Barrier up and running during a big fight. DH's fighter got killed. Cleric hit him with Resurrection...which brought him back to life right next to her. With 1 hit point.
DH is yelling "No! DON'T---!!" and then, well, we imagine the blade barrier must've made a sound like a woodchipper as it hit the freshly-animated fighter and chunked him into a million bits. The character portrait disappeared, no way to ever bring him back.
The fighter's last thought was clearly "I hate you."

Yeah, that's too bad.

Clearly.
I haven't played much yet, but it does play a lot like BG2, especially when zooming out to overhead view to manage tactics during a battle.
I still haven't put away BSG board game. Partly because work is still slamming me (even thou the show is open...grumble), partly because I wanna play again. Did we consense on when folks schedules would permit another attempt for the humans to win? (of course, with my luck, the game humans win, would be the game I'm a cylon).
