It's easy to understand. I was the logical choice. All the important actors in the electoral process agree.
Don't they.

Ok, I'm going to make a suggestion. We have six characters on board for this season. Everyone, if you feel so inclined, why don't you write a quick explanation (dramatisation or summary) explaining how you came to be here (or not, in Helo's case) after the Cylon attack?
BSG
I think that's unneeded for Tigh. Adama died, Tigh is promoted.
In addition, Galactica morale can best be described as mixed. Starbuck starts counting the hours and begins planning the decor in her cell.
BSG
I'm here (here as in lived through the attack, made it aboard Galactica *and* flying vipers) just because it pisses Tigh off so much.
Yes, I lived through a nuclear attack, just to piss off Tigh.
BSG
I was on Galactica when the attack started.
ION- Beatles Rockband has arrived. With book club being cancelled, I see a great excuse for avoiding food shopping and house cleaning.

Who else wanted the job? Once I had a chance to talk to the Quorum, they all saw that I'm really the *only* possible President.

Which just leaves me wondering what leverage you had over the Quorum? Blackmail? Threats?
*Admiral Tigh ponders*
backrubs and blowjobs
no wait... that's my plan for winning "Survivor"

*Admiral Tigh ponders*
That's code for "cracks open another bottle", according to an associate of mine.
I don't need threats, "Admiral". The Quorum recognizes the danger you pose to this fleet - not just your incompetence, either. Siding with me is widely seen as the only viable survival option.
The death of Admiral Adama wasn't planned by me, and it certainly won't increase the chances of our escaping the threat of Cylon attack. Sadly, we have to make due with the tools available to us. I pray every day - using Laura's shrine, no less (though not her drugs) - that you'll sober up and find a way to actually lead your troops, rather than just yell at them.
