ION- Beatles Rockband has arrived. With book club being cancelled, I see a great excuse for avoiding food shopping and house cleaning.

Who else wanted the job? Once I had a chance to talk to the Quorum, they all saw that I'm really the *only* possible President.

Which just leaves me wondering what leverage you had over the Quorum? Blackmail? Threats?

That's code for "cracks open another bottle", according to an associate of mine.

I don't need threats, "Admiral". The Quorum recognizes the danger you pose to this fleet - not just your incompetence, either. Siding with me is widely seen as the only viable survival option.

The death of Admiral Adama wasn't planned by me, and it certainly won't increase the chances of our escaping the threat of Cylon attack. Sadly, we have to make due with the tools available to us. I pray every day - using Laura's shrine, no less (though not her drugs) - that you'll sober up and find a way to actually lead your troops, rather than just yell at them.

Beatles Rock Band

We just played the first three chapters, so about 20 songs. Thus, my review:

It's not really a game. The part that isn't Quickplay they call Story now, and that's really what it is, an interactive story. There are no choices for the players to make. But the technical brilliance, the art direction, and the sound engineering make it enjoyable.

For some reason, only the player who launches the game gets the prizes/photos. The other players get some of the achievements, but would have to launch the game themselves and play thru to collect the same prizes. Not that they are worth it, just...why not?

You get an achievement for calibrating your system.

The "Beatlemania" effect makes some of the notes hard to see, esp. the line for the drum kick. And, since the drum doesn't launch Beatlemania after a drum fill, it's hard to sync up Beatlemanias for the whole band.

The hardest level of song, played on Expert, is about a 3-4 difficulty song from Rock Band. I.e, BRB is easier. And more like playing acoustic guitar.

The thing that annoyed me most? The volume level of the cutscenes is WAY LOUDER than the volume level of the songs.

At this point I give it 3.5 out of 5, but I think this might go up when we get a second microphone and try the harmony singing.

Raq, did you play with any Guitar Hero controllers? My buddy couldn't trigger Beatlemania with the GHIII Gibson. Was wondering if it was F, or if others had the problem. As for me, I suck, so the game wasn't all that easy for me. I thought the tutorial was rather good. Also dug the automatic calibrate. The guitar must have a light/sound sensor. Pretty cool. I was bummed to read I couldn't plug the headset into a regular controller for a 2nd mic.

We have Guitar Hero and D told me if we wanted to play Rock Band we'd have to buy all new controllers.

Everything else worked, just not the jilt into overdrive thing.
