I think it's a good story, YMMV. For me, though, the characterization is what is making the story for me, rather than the plot points.

Though it has to be said that, given that I'm about a third of the way through the story, there have already been two moments that actually made the usually disinterested-in-video-games-Jilli go "Holy shit!"

Peeve is making me very jealous with his GTA4 reports.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Me three, and I don't even really play video games! (SuperSmashBros & MarioKart being the exceptions. Oh, and Guitar Hero when I'm over at someone's house who has it. I think the last game I played that had anything like a storyline to it was Commander Keen.)

Yep. I have NO interest in playing the game, but I am interested in how the plot develops.

That's one of the things I've always liked about the Tomb Raider and Resident Evil video games. They have plot and characters, and can be interesting to spectators and kibitzers.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I still need to finish Resident Evil 4. I only got halfway through or so when I played it a year ago. And now I'd have to start over because I don't remember what happened. And also killing zombies is fun.

Haven't played RE4 yet, but killing zombies was always fun.

My personal favorite was head shots using the magnum pistol. The zombies' heads would just pop open like an overripe melon, followed by a Peter Jackson worthy fountain of blood from the now-headless neck.

I've played various TR & RE games (not all though), and from what I've seen they don't hold a candle to the quality of characterization in GTA.

An example - and yes I'm avoiding spoilers, I swear - I've driven one particular guy around some 10 or more times at various points in the game and each time the characters have had lengthy and different conversations. It all feels very real.

The fact they fit all this on a standard DVD is a masterpiece of coding.
