Kevin, they've always been a parody of American culture, or lack-there-of, but with the extra horsepower of this system they can do it with radio, TV, internet and all the other goodness.
I didn't preorder either. I never preorder as I find that supply issues are always exaggerated. I just walked into the local Target and picked one up.
Gud, are you playing TF2 on PC or Xbox? I have the Xbox version and have wanted to try it out but have been wary of jumping in to a game I am way behind the curve on. There's enough abuse on Xbox Live without inviting more.
I'm on PC. The abuse wasn't any worse than I was expecting, I'll just jump into a different server next time. I've done Soldier and Medic so far and it wasn't too bad. I haven't played against people since the Quake II days. Heck, I haven't played single player FPS for a couple of years before I just picked up The Orange Box.
So how plausible is this "people won't go see
Iron Man
because they're too busy playing GTA4" bullshit?
Not very. If someone wants to go to the theater to see Iron Man, they're going to go. Maybe the opening numbers might be a bit lower, but that's the only thing that seems even somewhat plausible to me.
I might actually delay going by a week, but that might have happened anyway.
Let's face it, GTA4's cost compared to theatre = fractional. Can't see it having a huge impact.
GTA IV may be most expensive game ever made
Although he wasn't sure on the exact figures, Benzies told the Times Online that, over the three and a half years the game was in development, the 1000-plus people working on it probably cost Rockstar around $100 million.
I'm not surprised. I've just been playing it for several hours, and can say without a doubt the level of attention to detail is simply staggering.
I pretty much never remember that I'm a member of these here forums, but I popped in here to say that I just went on summer break from college and can definitely see hours of my summer wasted on the new Super Smash Bros. If I get my grubby mitts on a copy (for cheap), probably Kart as well.
This past semester was very much a "disregard the homework and play Oblivion on my roommate's 360" time, I've pretty much done all the quests and was just having fun fortifying my speed/athletics/acrobatics to insane levels (600+ speed, 350 acrobatics, etc.) and jumping over city walls.
