I'm sorry, dad. You know I would never have tried to save River's life if I had known there was a dinner party at risk.

Yeah, we have specialties for a reason. So, regardless of what the Medic should do, I think heading to Cairo is still my best play right now.

Semi-related:

For someone that has never really played video games, at home or online, how would I purchase Pandemic to play on my own computer? or online with my sister and her kids?

(My computer is a PC and I have an iPhone. My webcam is disabled and I prefer it to stay that way, but I'm fine with screen sharing.)

You can get it from Steam.

You'll have to install the Steam client and create an account, though.

Cool, thanks. I never explored this option before because I far prefer playing board games IRL, and because my only non-cable internet option has a max download speed of 8 Mbps, but I recently bit the Comcast bullet so I can Internet multitask now.

Ok, that's not a problem, but (and I realize these questions probably sound stupid):
Do I own the game? Do I have to be online/logged in to play?

Not stupid at all.

It's sort of like Kindle for games, in that if Steam goes away then you you'd lose access to the games you got with it, but there's no subscription to Steam so there's no ongoing cost to keep the games. You do kinda have to be online to play, though if you know you're going to be offline you can put it into offline mode and still use the games. Also if you lose your Internet connection while playing a game, it will keep working (unless it's multiplayer over the Internet or otherwise requires being online).

I have several board games in video game format since I like them but often don't have anyone to play with.

Thanks for the info, Gud. That explanation makes perfect sense.

My questions are so basic I couldn't really find the answers at the site.

I think my sister and her kids would really like this game, but they are on the East Coast, so this could be a great solution. Plus I've been looking to play Ticket to Ride with my usual local gang and I've realized that Steam would be perfect for that as well. Though which one to buy on Steam? (We have four different board versions between us.)

Pandemic is also available as an app. I have it on my iPhone.

Hah! Yeah, no. Beyond checking air quality and weather, I do very little on my phone that is not actually using it as a telephone.
