Now we have Phase IV, and for many people, their Phase III play has an immediate impact.

Connie now has a Consume power, so she consumes 1 good for 1 VP.
Ryan consumes 1 good for 2 cards on New Vinland.
omnis chose this phase. He trades 1 Blue good for 2 cards; he can now consume the other Blue good on Galactic Studios, for 1 VP and another card draw.
Laga consumes her Green good on Plpague World for 1 VP and 1 card.
chrismg just played a windfall world, so he has a Green good. He consumes it immediately on Outlaw World for 1 VP and 1 card.

That concludes Round 6, and we have some goal activity this round.

omnis has caught up to Connie in Blue/Brown worlds! They both have three such. Connie got there first, so she has the 5 point tile; but omnis now gets 3 points too. If either of them gets the lead, they will claim the 5 points outright.

omnis has also now reached 5 VPs in consumption, so he claims the corresponding "First" goal for another 3 points.

But it's not all him. Laga now has three cards in her layout with powers in Phase I, so she claims the "Most Explore Powers" tile for 5 points.

There are two "First" goals still unclaimed - have 8 cards in your layout, and have a world in each colour. Connie has 7 cards in her layout, just one off that goal. Likewise, Ryan lacks just a Brown world to claim the other.

And with that, everyone, please send me your orders for Round 7.

Orders, I have them:

Connie Neil: Phase III - Settle
Ryan: Phase II - Develop
omnis: Phase I (+1/+1) - Explore (draw +1 card, keep +1 card)
Laga: Phase II - Develop
chrismg: Phase V - Produce

Once again we just miss out on the elusive five-phase round. But four phases is still pretty good. We start with Phase I (Explore).

Connie and Ryan draw 2 cards and keep 1.
omnis chose this phase; he draws 3 cards and keeps 2.
Laga has many Explore powers, so she draws 5 cards, takes them into her hand and then discards 4 cards.
chrismg draws 3 cards and keeps 1.

Everyone, when you're ready, please let me know what you keep. You can also send me COs for Phases II and III, if you haven't done so already, or if your Explore draw changes things.

Right, orders are in. This turn could be interesting. Phase II (Develop) is next. There was a lot of changes of plan for players after seeing their Explore draw.

Connie draws 1 card from Galactic Developers, and then plays Galactic Survey: SETI. First 6-cost development of the game! (Actually, a proposal here. I've never liked the term "6-cost development", it's rather clumsy. The goal for being the first to play one - which is not in this game - is called "Galactic Status", so I think from now on I'll call them "status developments".)

Anyway, it costs her 6 discards. That leaves her with 1 card in hand. It has one power on it; Connie now draws 2 extra cards when exploring. At game end it's worth 1 VP per Explore power plus 1 VP per world.

Ryan plays Colony Ship for 1 discard. He can discard this in a Phase III to play any one non-military, non-Alien world for free.

omnis passes.

Laga plays Mercenary Fleet for 2 discards. This gives her +2 military (total of 3), and she can discard up to 2 cards for +1 military each.

chrismg is also boosting his military, with Imperium Troops for 1 discard. This gives him +1 military (total of 5), with an extra +1 against Rebel worlds.

And now, at the end of the phase, we note that Connie has 8 cards in her layout, which means she claims the Expansion Leader goal for 3 VPs!

Phase III now, and we are going to see something here that hasn't happened (I think) in any game yet. Connie chose this phase - but now that we come to it, she passes! It seems the SETI Survey was just too good to pass up. Even with her passing, everyone else can use the phase if they want. omnis will also pass. The others have something to say.

Ryan discards Colony Ship to play Imperium Blaster Gem Consortium. This beast of a world normally costs 6 discards. It's a Brown production world, and also gives +1 military, and lets him consume a Brown good for 1 VP and 2 cards.

Laga plays Rebel Miners. This is a 2-defence military Brown production world.

chrismg plays Rebel Outpost. This is a 5-defence military world, and gives him another +1 strength.

And now, at the end of Phase III, there's some more goal-oriented action. Specifically, with Ryan's play, he now has a world in each colour, Blue, Brown, Green and Yellow. He claims the System Diversity goal for 3 VPs! Furthermore, he already had 2 Blue worlds, so he now has 3 Blue and Brown worlds together - catching up to Connie and omnis! Connie still has the 5-VP tile, having got there first, but Ryan joins omnis on a consolation 3 VPs. This could all change quite significantly if any of them can pull ahead of the others.

Phase V closes the round.

Connie produces 1 Blue good. She then draws 2 cards from Rebel Cantina, for having two Rebel worlds.

Ryan produces 1 Blue good and 1 Brown good, and draws 1 card for producing on Gem World.

omnis produces 3 Blue goods, and draws 1 card for producing on Galactic Studios.

Laga produces 1 Brown good and 1 Green good.

chrismg, who chose this phase, produces 1 Blue good and 1 Green good. These are both on windfall worlds; he gets one for choosing this phase and the other from Genetics Lab.

And that concludes Round 7. Everyone, please send me your choice of action card for Round 8.

Orders are in. I'll need to clarify a couple of points later on, but for the moment, we have:

Connie Neil: Phase III - Settle
Ryan: Phase II - Develop
omnis: Phase II - Develop
Laga: Phase IV ($) - Consume (Trade)
chrismg: Phase IV ($) - Consume (Trade)

Phase II (Develop) first. Connie draws 1 card from Galactic Developers. She passes on playing a development.

Ryan plays Diversified Economy for 3 discards. This card lets him consume 3 goods, which must be all of different colours, for 3 VPs. (This will come up again in Phase IV.) In Phase V, he also now draws 1 card for each colour of good he produces. (He has worlds in each colour, so could conceivably draw 4 cards.)

omnis plays Pan-Galactic Research for 5 cards. He then draws 1 card from Public Works. This is a 6-cost development, but alone in this category, it doesn't have a variable value - it's worth a fixed 4 VPs at game end. This card has a number of effects. In Phase I, it lets him draw 2 more cards and keep 1 more card. In Phase II, he gets -1 cost on any development. In Phase V, he draws 2 cards. And finally, at turn end, he can keep up to 12 cards in hand instead of up to 10.

Laga and chrismg both pass.

I need to check a couple of things before we go on to Phases III and IV.

Phase III (Settle). omnis and Laga pass.

Connie plays Alien Robot Scot Ship. This is a 4-defence military Yellow windfall world, that gives +1 strength. She then draws 1 card for choosing this phase.

Ryan plays Trading Outpost for 1 discard. This card lets him take his Explore draw into his hand before discarding, and gives him +2 cards when trading.

chrismg plays Rebel Base. This is a 6-defence military world.

Now I need to clarify one thing before we do Phase IV.
