We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so very pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die.

Choices are in:

Connie Neil: Phase II - Develop
Laga: Phase II - Develop
omnis: Phase II - Develop
chrismg: Phase III - Settle

With everyone cashed-up, it's time to extend the layouts. Phase II (Develop) is first for some big diamond action.

Connie plays Alien Tech Institute for 4 discards; that's at -2 cost for choosing the phase and Investment Credits. this is a 6-cost development that gives her -2 cost on any future non-military Alien worlds, and +2 military on any future military Alien worlds. With her existing 4 strength, that's enough for any Alien military worlds in the game. At game end, it's worth 3 points per Alien production world, plus 2 points per other Alien card. It's currently worth 4 VPs.

Laga plays Galactic Federation for 5 discards. This is another 6-cost development. It gives her -2 cost on future developments. Its value is 2 points per 6-cost development plus 1 point per other development. It's currently worth 5 VPs.

omnis plays Free Trade Association for 4 discards (same discounts as Connie). Yet again, this is a 6-cost development. It lets him produce on a Blue windfall world and consume up to 3 Blue goods for 1 VP and 1 card each. At game end it's worth 2 points per Blue production world plus 1 point per Blue windfall world, plus points for a couple of other cards. It's currently worth 3 VPs.

chrismg passes.

Phase III (Settle):

chrismg plays Alien Toy Shop for 3 discards. This is an Alien windfall world. It can consume only a good produced on itself, but gives 2 VPs for doing so. He then draws 1 card for playing it.

omnis plays Galactic Bazaar. Replicant Robots gives him -2 cost, so he pays 1 discard. It gives 1 card when trading a Blue good, and in Phase IV, omnis may discard a card from his hand for 1 VP.

Connie and Laga both pass.

That concludes Round 10. Everyone, please ponder your choice of Action card for Round 11.

Orders are in! Everyone's spent big, time to get back to work.

Connie Neil: Phase V - Produce
Laga: Phase V - Produce
omnis: Phase V - Produce
chrismg: Phase IV (x2) - Consume (double VPs)

Phase IV is first. Connie and Laga have no goods, so they pass.

omnis consumes his Blue good on Free Trade Association for 1 VP and 1 card.

chrismg chose this phase, and doubles his points. He consumes the Yellow good on Alien Toy Shop for 2 VPs, which becomes 4 VPs. He has no power that can consume a Blue good, so his good on Gem World stays in place.

Phase V (Produce) is next, and everyone can play. Those players that chose this phase (i.e. everyone but chrismg) can produce on one windfall world in addition to their production worlds.

Connie produces 2 Brown goods and 1 Yellow good.

Laga produces 1 Blue, 1 Brown and 1 Green good, and then draws 1 card from Comet Zone.

omnis can produce on a Blue windfall world thanks to Free Trade Association, in addition to the windfall production he gets for choosing this phase. He produces 3 Blue goods.

chrismg produces 1 Brown good to go with his pre-existing Blue good.

That concludes Round 11. Time for new Action cards!

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Today my son learned about RPG character death (he also learned that low-level sorcerers are really squishy and I learned that orcs are way more dangerous than their low CR would suggest.)

We had some tears, but he seems to be okay now. I feel bad (as it was definitely not intentional on my part) but I'm also glad we got it out of the way and that it was a freshly-rolled character rather than one he had a chance to grow attached to.

Orcs have a core competency in squishing the squishy things.

Ryan's dragonborn sorceror (named Ryan, the soaring imagination of a small boy is a thing of wonder) is no longer so squishy, having reached 11th level. I am currently contriving to arrange a fight for his party where they will have the assistance of one or two good dragons, against a flight of red dragons and evil wizards and such. He's been keen on this idea for some time, getting to run his own dragons.

He's fully moved on, talking about different characters he might make (he still has his first two, he just decided he wanted to try making a new character and I improv-ed a quick adventure for him that ended up being far more deadly than I anticipated) and told me as I was putting him to bed how much he loved playing D&D.

His original characters are still only 4th level. We haven't found much time to play recently.
