Sox, no, I hadn't caught that article. I skimmed it just now because I think I may have overdosed on reviews in the last 24 hours. Was there something specific about it that stood out that I missed?
One of the things in GTA that I'm really looking forward to is the new rag-doll physics engine. It handles everything from accurately slumping a character's shoulders or making them lean correctly when they climb a steep hill, to being spun by bullets and flailing appropriately when falling from a great height/ being thrown from a moving vehicle.
Have I ever mentioned that violent video games make me laugh uproariously? I really have no idea why, but anyone who's played me in Halo can probably tell you it's true.
He also sounds like his wife on the phone.
He also sings.
See, that didn't bother me. The clown make-up was a little disconcerting, though.

Well, it's nice to have a good attitude about death and mayhem. I blame how you were raised. Crazy Brits, what with guns everywhere and all.

Only to a sound designer who has clearly screwed up his ears with years of sound thingamyjigging.
IOFreelancingN, the company responsible for the hell project asked me if I'd be interested in more work in July. ND would be so proud; I quoted them a price 70% higher than the last project. They appear to be considering it so I guess my work made an impression.
IOGTAN; here's a 10 minute vid of in-game GTA from G4TV -

Go you with the price raising! I can't wait to introduce you to some of the nuts that I work with at Universal Studios.
The bad part about Mario Kart Wii online is learning the cold hard fact that I SUCK.
It is the nature of online play to give people a dose of cruel perspective. Before the release of Halo 2, the forums were awash with clans guaranteeing their membership would be in the top ten of the various leaderboards. I tried to explain to them the scope of competition they were facing - i.e., the whole frikkin' world and what that would actually mean - but it fell on deaf ears. Needless to say none of those kids got within spitting distance of the top 100.

It's cold. It's hard. And it's a fact. Really, if you are not already a widely recognized master at any massively multiplayer (or otherwise online) game, by definition you suck.
This is why I don't generally play games online except with people I already know. I like my illusions of how well I play video games. They are part of the fun. I need no reminders that I actually suck.
