Judging how the last 2 checks have gone, I'm kinda scared of going for option 1. I'd rather go for the single hit than the double. What do you all think?

Yeah, we haven't had much luck with checks, and that's a pretty hard fail option. That being said, I could help if we go for it.

OK, that's a majority. And I run my Presidency on Majority Rules! Sure, sometimes, it's only 50.1%, and the other 49.9% get depressed. And I guess that's why our morale dropped 1. For that, I am sorry. But hey, look at all those cards we saved! And think of the sleep I saved you, so you aren't looking at the cards played, trying to guess who spiked it. See. I am a benevolent leader.
