A thread for the discussion of games: board, LARP, MMORPG, video, tabletop RPG, game theory etc. etc. and all attendant news, developments and ancillary subjects thereof, as well as coordinating/scheduling games either online or IRL. All are welcome to chime in, talk about their favorite games or learn about gaming of any sort.
PLEASE TO WHITEFONT SPOILERS for video games, RPG modules or anything for which foreknowledge of events might lessen one's enjoyment of whatever gaming experience.
To give a further idea of how this might work, an example of playing BSG via forum can be found here: [link] (They're actually up to their 8th game on boardgamegeek, they've proven immensely popular). I don't have Photoshop, so I won't be able to provide the graphics.
So far I think we have Sean, Raq, maybe Raq's hubby and maybe Laga. Anyone else? Anyone not interested in playing who has an opinion on using this thread for it?
I played Ticket to Ride: Europe today. It was my first time playing a Ticket to Ride game. It's not as dumb as I thought!

Don't be surprised if that quote appears on the box next reprint!
billytea, I'd be interested, but have never played or own the game, so very much clueless. But I am always up for learning/playing a new game.
ION, just finished the most painful game of Cataan on XboxLive. One player must have fallen asleep or something, so every time it was his turn, the hour glass just counted down the time. He rolled 7 a few times, and had to get rid of 10 cards each time, which took forever, until the computer choose which cards to ditch, then had to wait for where to place the robber... you get the feeling. And another player lost net connection, so a bot took over. A bot doesn't have time constraints, and will stay in the trade window as long as any other player is in there. Guess what. Ya, fell asleep dude didn't leave, because that would require pushing the B button. So bots turns took a good 3 minutes, asleep dudes as well. Most turns can be done in less than a minute. Sooooo boring.

For people who are interested but don't have the game, the rules are available for download here: [link] This is a reasonable place to start. I also have a simpler summary if anyone would like a look. Just email me.
if you log in at least once a day it's probably workable.
I log on at least twice a day!
I finally have enough brutes created that I'm no longer running out of fights and having to create new brutes to fight more. I'm astonished at the people who came up with the same names I did. Already taken were Chanandler Bong, Ms Chanandler Bong, Ms. Chanandler Bong, Harmoninny Granger (I made mine Grater), Jack's Merkin Revenge (I made Jax Merkin), Le Lezard Volente (I dropped the 'e' on the end)... I know there are more. It's scary how many people think the same way I do.

Cool. Given the game coordinator is in a different time zone from the rest of you, I suspect you won't be the biggest time disruption.
So at the moment for a BSG game I think we have Sean, Raq, Laga and Omnis Audis. Maybe Raq's husband too. Is that right?
Next question, is there anyone who wants to raise an objection to us using this forum to run the game?
There is a nice video on the game at that site BillyTea linked to:

What kind of store has this in stock? Does it come with the book, or is that a separate purchase? Is the book needed?
has anyone heard of/played Mirror's Edge for the Xbox? Co-worker was talking about it, said it was the bomb.
omnis, I've played it. It's pretty fun and challenging but very repetitive. It doesn't ever seem to realize its full potential.
