A thread for the discussion of games: board, LARP, MMORPG, video, tabletop RPG, game theory etc. etc. and all attendant news, developments and ancillary subjects thereof, as well as coordinating/scheduling games either online or IRL. All are welcome to chime in, talk about their favorite games or learn about gaming of any sort.
PLEASE TO WHITEFONT SPOILERS for video games, RPG modules or anything for which foreknowledge of events might lessen one's enjoyment of whatever gaming experience.
(Side note: what are the no-sympthizer rules? I know it's reduced resources, but I don't recall which ones and the amount.)
The no sympathiser rules are contained here: [link] Changes: lose 1 Food, 1 Morale and 2 Pop. (No Fuel, you still need to travel the same distance.) Revealed Cylons draw three cards instead of two.
Ha, Kalbear that sounds fun. Since I bought the game, I haven't managed to play a full game in one night either. The first time, we stopped halfway, and the second time, we split the game over two nights.
So has anyone else played
The Walking Dead
? It's so, so good! I'm not sure whether there's a specific genre term for this sort of game yet, but it's like
Heavy Rain
in that the core of the game is choosing dialogue options and making choices that affect your relationship with characters and the outcome of the story. Interactive storytelling, I guess? I loved
Heavy Rain,
but I think this game is better about developing character relationships, as they remember everything you say and do and everything you say and do affects what they say and do. I don't know how possible it is to dramatically affect the basic story (I figure that the game course corrects the narrative), but the subtlety of it all makes it feel so goddamn real and natural.
And oh man, it's a hell of an experience. This was my reaction after Episode 2:
HOLY FUCKING MOTHER OF FUCK WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK IS THIS GAME I WAS ALMOST CRYING AT ONE POINT I STILL FEEL KIND OF SICK EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE.
Thanks for the info/link BT. I'd completely forgotten about the extra card draw (or more specifically had thought 3 was the normal Cylon draw.)
Kalbear
I can only assume this was an auto-correct PC, rather than an attempt at a new nickname. While I did sit on your Couch of Sin many years ago, I don't recall anything happening that would empower you to call me anything-bear.
Ha! I don't know how that happened. Kalbear was someone I knew on TWoP.
BSG (Cally)
Sorry for the delay.
So, I could XO Apollo and I think we can get the civvies off the board that way, am I right? Then I can await an XO for major Pew-pew-age. Or is there a better option?
BSG (Apollo)
Yeah, I can get all the civvies out of danger, but remember, then the raiders stop moving and just shoot at Galactica and Pegasus. I might want to keep one around to herd raiders with...
BSG (Cally)
Oh man and Roslin's in the Brig so she can't move to COMMS unless I xo her and we pass a brig check first. I think we need to worry about all this metal in the sky at the moment. Still I feel like I need to stay on Pegasus so I can do any needed repairs and keep our 'decoy' vessel afloat. I can help with a brig check but let's save that for Roslin's turn.
I will not move and
play xo-2 on Apollo.
