Wesley: Hey. Hey, Gunn. Is something weird going on? … Charles, you just peed on my shoes. Gunn: I'll be damned. That's weird.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Starbuck reveals her loyalty card, which states:

You Are Not a Cylon

The fleet loses 1 Morale. Apparently they liked Starbuck more than Cally. Who knew? But not enough to, you know, arrest Cally for murder or anything like that. Let's not go overboard here. P-C, Starbuck has been shot, quite possibly in the face (THE FACE!). You may choose any character not previously selected to replace her. You have not yet used your OPG, so your new character's OPG will be available to you. Per the Exodus loyalty rules, once you have made your choice, you will be dealt a new loyalty card.

When you're ready, please post your choice.

I will be returning as "Chief" Galen Tyrol. Looks like there's a lot of repairing to be done.

sniffs

Huh. Smells like cabbages in here.

(And can I just say, as a player, I AM SO ANGRY AND TRAUMATIZED BY THIS TURN OF EVENTS. [Er, not flounce-away angry, though. Just the natural anger at being SHOT IN THE FACE.] I was not expecting to feel so emotional about fake-dying. What a game.)

(Dude, I totally don't blame you. You got SHOT IN THE FACE! I think it testifies to what a compelling game this is, though, because of how caught up we all get. You have my player condolences for your fake-death!)

(It's not like there's an excessive amount of role-playing in this game. It's not part of the actual gameplay. But since we're playing characters we know, we naturally have a little bit of connection to them, and it makes the game more interesting and fun to treat the game as if the characters are the actual crew facing these challenges. I think of everyone as and refer to everyone by their characters, not their players.

And because this online game takes a lot longer than a real-life game, there's a much stronger connection. I've been Starbuck for WEEKS. I have been focused on Starbuck's card draw, Starbuck's abilities and weakness. And now I'M NOT STARBUCK ANYMORE AND I HAVE TO BE CHIEF. I AM GOING TO HAVE AN IDENTITY CRISIS.

Plus, you know, it was sudden. It's always sudden.)

Plus, you know, it was sudden. It's always sudden.

Especially when being shot IN THE FACE.

Now we learn the real reason Cally had to shoot Starbuck. She'd been standing in the way of Cally's man. Chief Galen Tyrol joins the crew, in (would you believe it) the Hangar Deck, to find his wife standing over Starbuck's remains. (I'll take awkward reunions for 200, Alex.)

I can think of no crisis more appropriate at this juncture than this:

Loss of a Friend
Skill Check (9 YG)

Interrupts: IC, SR, Reckless. Everyone (except Tigh and the Chief, who have no cards), please pass or play. You can also vote to TANK the check if you wish. Finally, I encourage everyone to send me COs (if it's not tanked).

I can't help on this check. I only have one thing that would count towards it and I can't play just one card.

Administrative note: both P-C and -t have advised that they'll be out of contact for part of the coming week. That means we'll probably have some delays until next weekend. I'll keep things moving as feasible, but I trust no one will mind if things get held up here and there.
