You're wrong about River. River's not on the ship. They didn't want her here, but she couldn't make herself leave. So she melted... Melted away. They didn't know she could do that, but she did.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

BSG

Wow, that worked out surprisingly well. To your health, Starbuck.

Whew! That was about as good as it could have been, considering. Ok. So we've still got a sick Kat, but it's something of a problem because I can't XO her out of sickbay, and Starbuck's turn will directly precede hers.

But without an XO I'm somewhat limited in what I can do, so I'll try to get the most bang for my turn's buck.

I play CS-5 to convert my movement phase to action. For my first action, I activate the President's Office to draw 1 Quorum card. I then pause to see if I want to draw an additional card or play one for the second half of my first action.

Card sent. When you're ready, please post whether you will play a Quorum card or draw another. If the former, you may draw two cards of any colour(s); you may also post your choice of draw. You may then post your second action.

Okay, Cally, you look like a woman who knows her business. I hereby Assign you Chief of Staff. I figure since you draw politics, you'd be in the best position to know when it would be helpful to make those count positive. That gives me 2 yellow, plus for my character ability, I draw one purple and one red.

Then for my second action, I activate it again, drawing another Quorum card and pausing.

Cards sent to the President, and she has left orders to finish up by playing Food Rationing (draw 1 Purple and 1 Blue).

This Quorum card gives a die roll to increase Food, and may be modified by a Strategic Planning before the roll, and/or a Calcs after it. Everyone with those cards, please pass or play on interrupts.

What do we need to roll to get the Food?

Eta: eh, it doesn't matter. SP-3

Admiral Tigh plays an SP on the die roll.

Die roll: 8 + 2 = 10. Pass! Food increases to 9.

Look at that, all that Food. That's some good rationing, right there. I'm sure the surplus is all in very capable and trustworthy hands. On an unrelated note, Tory's crisis is:

Food Hoarding in the Fleet
President's Choice

President Tory, when you're ready, please post your choice.

Ah. Prescient of me, wasn't that? At least this was a President's choice and not a current player choice. I'm thinking we don't want to risk the civvie, right? Since we gained the food, this is really only a cumulative loss of 1 for that category.
