What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

BSG

Okay, I'll play Kobol.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Is it just me or does stuff you learned in D&D come up really a lot when you're playing Scrabble? I can't tell you how many times I've played ADZE and I just got quite a few points for ASPIS.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

This is just to announce that we'll be kicking off the next game of BSG fairly soon. It will include the base game, the base Pegasus elements and the base Exodus elements. (Exodus mainly adds new skill card options and crisis cards.) The crew will also be voting on three rules options:

1. Loyalty and executions. In Pegasus, all the loyalty cards get dealt out, and if you execute a human, you know the replacement will also be human. In Exodus, not all the loyalty cards get deal out, and executed humans ge a new card, so their replacement could be a Cylon.

2. Nukes. In the base game, nukes only hit Cylon ships, and can bag up to a basestar and 3 raiders. There's an Exodus module where the nukes can, if you roll high, destroy everything in a sector - friend and foe.

3. Investigative Committees. In the base game, ICs reveal all cards in the skill check, including Destiny. In Pegasus, they reveal the cards added by players, but not Destiny.

The players in this game will vote on which options they prefer.

If anyone else wants to sign on, we have one slot left open, which is available until everyone's put in their character choices.

I'd like it to be random whether an executed player comes back as a human or a cylon.

I'm in favor of nukes possibly harming civilians.

I prefer when Investigative Committe reveals destiny.

Voted and noted. Don't forget to send your character preferences too.

I promise I will send in my character selections before I get out of bed today.

Meanwhile I have a question about the Trust Instincts card.

Resolve Skill Check abilities on these cards.

What does that mean?

The 0-value cards have Skill Check abilities, which do get resolved on the extra Destiny cards. What I'm confused about is that the card specifies they're played face-up. Does that mean you draw 2 cards off Destiny face-up first, before anyone plays into the check? And then you draw 2 more at the end? That could be interesting, especially with the Skill Check abilities.

Yes, the wording's a bit funny. Here's how a skill check with TI works.

1. Destiny puts in two cards.

2. Everyone plays int to the check in turn.

3. All the cards are shuffled up and turned over to be tallied (so far, no difference).

4. If there are any 0-value cards, resolve their effects. If one of those cards is a Trust Instincts, add two more cards from Dedtiny. (Face up because, really, what's the alternative?)

5. If either of those cards is a 0-value card, resolve its effect too.

It just means the cards added by TI get treated the same as any other cards in the check.

And why would we assume otherwise? Come on, rules.

Mmm, if the pre-TI cards have an effect that says that all cards of such-and-such color do such-and-such, the TI cards are also affected by that even though they come afterward, right? Otherwise things get weird and confusing, I'd think. Since you don't resolve strength until the very end, I think that's right.

Those new cards look very interesting, but with more cards in the deck, it's less likely that we'll even draw them! Well, I suppose everyone will draw them eventually. But any one person may not get to play with them.

Yes, there was a card I kept hoping for last game that I never drew.
