Thanks guys, for the pos feedback! I appreciate it, and appreciate all of you! MWAH!
The Great Write Way, Act Three: Where's the gun?
A place for Buffistas to discuss, beta and otherwise deal and dish on their non-fan fiction projects.
Drabble prompt:
cherry
My first choice agent and first agent I queried just gave me my first reply. They want to see 30 pages. The odds are still low, but that gives me a good feeling that my query letter is effective.
Awesome news Gud!
Erin, I know it's late feedback, but
Would we look at collections of letters written by people in the past (you know, before computers?!) and say that because these people wrote dozens and dozens of letters a month to family member and friends that they were insulating themselves from personal connections to real people?
Well, yeah, that is what people say about H.P. Lovecraft and Emily Dickenson and probably others.
Otherwise it's lovely...it captures a lot about why I sometimes refer to b.org as "my church."
(is spending time here rather than writing)
Erin, that's a great essay.
And congratulations, Gud!
Amy, my boss is in Guam for the week: I should be able to write 100 words about fruit.
Good for you, Gud.
Good news, Gud!
Guam, Consuela! Wow. That's never an expected destination, is it?
"Cherry" came to me because it was Washington's birthday, but remember, cherry can mean a lot more than fruit.
Also, if anyone thinks the prompts suck, or simply has ideas for some, just shout.
Cherry
I always forget that it's my favorite flavor, which is a stupid thing to forget. Then I realize that my favorite is the real thing, not the fake, chemically thing that parades itself as "cherry flavor."
"Cherry" is family vacations and going into strange roadside diners and looking at the menu suspiciously, then leaping with relief on good, old, familiar Cherry soda.
Or proper cherry cordials, with dark chocolate and a real cherry in the middle, sweet and slightly sour and so, so good.
Don't tell me that squirt of citric-acid-and-"natural flavors" is cherry. I can tell.
I haven't been participating or commenting, but the prompts are great and I'm glad to see everyone writing!
