Just remind yourself going in that instead of seeing a cheesy '30s serial, you are seeing a cheesy '50s drive-in movie, and you'll be all set.

From a PR perspective, if you were high enough that you can't remember what substances you took to get there, does it really matter whether or not it was cocaine?
Do you suppose it's possible to not be able to remember cocaine use?
In a black out? I don't see why not.

Right.

Well, if he was just drunk then he didn't do anything illegal.
Still, it's an odd defense.
"Mr. President - is it true you did cocaine in your past?"
"Dude, I was so wasted back then I can't remember."
eta: wtf? This post disappeared.
Huh. My post #9362 disappeared.
eta: Ah. Entering a new post brought it back. Weird.

Actually for a few decades now "I don't remember" and "Even though I was in charge, I had no idea what was going on" have been considered perfectly legitimate excuses, at least from a PR perspective. I was so happy when Ken Lay and Whazzizface were finally held accountable in court despite using the "I had no idea" plea.
You know, theoretically, I don't care if the current president was a drunk or a cokehead or whatever 20+ years ago, as long as he (or she) isn't right now.
With Bush, it's the bullshit that comes with it, like his line about doing bad things in his "youth" when he was like 40, that make me mad.

Dudes! I have 8 more years in which to do bad things!! And then I might have to grow up, but only if I intend to go into politics.
I don't care about the past use either ( see our current govenor) it's the stupid lying and memory loss and position of moral superiority that so many damn politicians take. drug use, affairs, sniper fire, C'MON!
