Here's what gets me ... Now that I'm officially unemployed, I could totally get pregnant and have coverage. I have to say, it's tempting to become a SAHM, have another baby, get some state benefits and just be done with working until I finish school.

Oh thank G*d, I finally heard from my cousin and his wife's family in Burma are all safe and sound. Apparently, it's total chaos there: the price of everything has doubled, if not tripled, there's no electricity, meat is impossible to come by, etc.
Well, yeah. For good reason. But only for prenatal and immediate postnatal care, I think, right?
I know I have work to do. I'm just not sure what it is. We have testing today so our schedule is all out of whack and we get out early.
It's just that my motivation is all sapped.
But only for prenatal and immediate postnatal care, I think, right?
Yeah. There is that.
Susan,
A couple of questions for your translation:
"What was that?"
Do you mean this in the sense of "What was that that I just heard?"
"Pierre just tripped and fell."
Is this "just" in the sense of "it just happened" or "only"?
That's got to be a huge relief, megan. What a fucking mess over there.
Oh my gosh, Megan, you have family in Burma? Eesh. Poor people. Bad enough what happened, but for the government to be actively making it worse (as it sounds from the news coverage)...eesh.
Today I got cancer insurance, disability insurance, accident insurance, and plants! Guess which one is actually exciting?
...cancer insurance is a separate thing???
Oh, and my morning started with a bang by having some stupid recruiter I don't know (who has left me multiple *exactly the same* messages) calling...at 5:55AM!!! I was like "NO, I dont' need a job and I"M ON THE WEST COAST, FUCKTARD!"
What a relief for you, megan. That is such a screwed up situation over there.
I was hearing on the radio about the Chinese earthquake--wtf is it with natural disasters this month?
Aims, so sorry to hear about your job--vibing hard for you to get that new one!!
I'm calling my vet this afternoon to report on Amarna's improvement. She's definitely perkier than she was (she was on the sink waiting for me to get out of the shower last night, meowing in concern over my wetness, and she woke me up this morning as well), and I'm sure her temp has gone down close to normal. She has managed to use her litter box some (not as much as before she got sick, though), and she's eating all of her food and drinking some water, too (and even playing with her extra water dish last night by smacking it around the floor and watching the water splash out). I'm hoping that they'll be satisfied with that and tell me not to bother bringing her in unless she doesn't start using the litter box more in the next day or two.
Yay Amarna!
