I'm trying to decide if I should try this recipe from Sothernfood.com. Does beef, apples, onions, curry powder, cinnomon and cloves and lemon juice sound like a good combo or just odd?

I dunno, typo...somehow with beef that just sounds weird to me. It sounds like it'd make more sense with pork, or chicken.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Lemon juice and beef? I think that's a little weird to me. I don't see the benefits of the lemon juice making it past the beef.

The lemon juice doesn't sound weird to me except there's way too much of it and it ought to be added at the end - adding at the beginning will cook out all of the brightness it adds to the curry, which defeats the purpose of including it in the first place.

I'm also not sure what the apples are doing in there. I wouldn't dismiss it on principle, but there are much better "curry" recipes out there.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think there were apples in my family's supermarket curry powder chicken curry in the 80s, but we never did beef.

Also: Happy Mother's Day, U.S. people who are into that sort of thing!

TiVo dumped me into Till Debt Do U$ Part. Can they have a segment on that show where I go and slap around the participants? On what planet do you live $50,000 in debt and spend $200 on clothes and $60 on lottery tickets on your credit card PER WEEK? On what planet do you need the TV lady to tell you you're overspending by $3K every month? Or that it's reasonable to run and spend money as the TV lady is coming up the walk.

I don't actually care if they shape up. I want to see them crash and burn when I think about it.

I think my wheat deprivation is really getting to me. I would kill a person for a pizza right now.

But still. They are brats.

I'd pay to see that, ita.

What's a good substitution for sherry vinegar?

I have balsamic, red & white wine vinegars, and some actual sherry (I think I have sweet and dry).
