'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Special for Hil -- Pose #3 I've actually done in Yoga! I think it's called Frog pose, and is indeed a runner-up to the handstand. IIRC, the key is to get your butt high enough that your center of balance is right in the center triangle between hands and head, and also you rest/support the inside of your knees approximately on the outside of your elbows. You run up to it by getting arms, shoulders and head into the right position, then jumping your legs and butt up -- it looks hysterical when it's a class of yoga students doing it, which is why I mostly keep my head down and don't look.

Now I want to go back to yoga.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I have bread rising and stock simmering. Very domestic! The stock is mostly veggie, but I had one chicken breast bone in the freezer. I hope the stock comes out good -- I've never been happy with stock I've made at home, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. We'll see -- worst case scenario, I use canned broth to make the planned broccoli soup.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Is there a French exclamation roughly equivalent to "Oh, what the hell," only a little more polite? Like, something a gentleman would say in front of ladies he respects. The context is that he's agreeing to a somewhat reckless plan.

The only thing that comes to mind is something involving "pourquoi pas?" I thought there had to be something else, but when I googled both phrases it came up a lot as a translation. The form would be:
"Alors, pourquoi pas?" or "Après tout, pourquoi pas?"

If that seems too mild, you could make it stronger (and 19th century sounding), by adding something like:
"Nom de diable, pourquoi pas?"
but I don't know about the relative gentlemanliness of using that expression in front of women.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Perkins, no, this is the same New Gal I got last fall. I'd been leaving her out of her crate more often lately, but yesterday I noticed a suspicious yellowish stain on the living room carpet... So, we're back to crating when alone in the house.

Might have something to do with not leaving her lots of water while I'm out.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I just heard Adam Savage on Wait Wait answering questions about Bram Stoker. Perfect buffista moment y/n?

hip deep in pie

I had my hair cut this morning and then I went our public garden's open house. I got oh so many differnt types of seeds, and little tomoato and butterfly bush plants. Now my cat Pico is sniffing me up and down because I was playing with my hairdressers dog while I was waiting, and I seem to have the dog stink on me.

The dog poo bin is actually just septic starter with some water, and it "digests" the poo, and there's no smell.

I wonder if I could do this with cat poo. I would have so little garbage if it wasn't for the kitty litter.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

amych reminds me that I haven't listened to Wait Wait in approximately forever. I need to do something about that.

Thanks, megan! I think I'll go with the "Nom de diable" one, at least for now.

ION, did we know about this? Soldiers being cremated at the Friends Forever Pet Cremation Service? [link]
