When did clown shoes become a valid fashion choice for men? I keep seeing these shoes lately where the toe section comes out a good 3-5 inches farther than looks appropriate for the person wearing them. The bowling shoe thing was bad enough.

In totally unrelated news, does anyone here have a compost bin? Are they much work? Er, any work at all? And tell me the truth, do they smell?
I swear this is unrelated -- the one I'm thinking of buying is too small to hold bodies anyway.

Hey, what do reasonably classy futon + frames run these days (not the damned metal ones, arms, wood, that sort of thing)? I'm seeing some prices that are equivalent to a sofa for crying out loud. I need to replace the one I have now (broken and ugly) and I'd been thinking about getting a sofa except with the heavy and hard to deliver and I really need a guest bed and maybe I should just wait and I can always find another use for the futon when I do get a couch...but damn. If it is going to cost as much as a couch....

Yes. Actually, we have 2 -- one for food/yard waste, and one that's only for dog poo.

Some.

If you want them to not smell, then there's some work involved, in turning the compost in the food/yard waste bin, etc.
The dog poo bin is actually just septic starter with some water, and it "digests" the poo, and there's no smell.
The food waste bin shouldn't smell bad *as long as* you only compost non-meat products. Meats, fats/oils, and dairy products will turn your compost bin into a hellhole.
