Did I tell you folks that I have ginger ice cream? It is just about the best thing EVAR.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I have a quart of heavy cream at home and half a bag of pistachios. I should turn those into ice cream this weekend.
And I'm not a germaphobe, but I do like it when the place I go to get clean isn't a sticky, moldy mess of hair and crusty toothpaste.
Well, we have a cleaning service every two weeks so it stays pretty clean (unless my housemate shaves, which I'm sure he was probably doing today) and then there are little hairs all over the sink. Ugh.
Wow. I am more emotionally scarred than I realized by my father's poor bathroom etiquette!
And I appreciate it!
but I am under no misapprehension about the biological realities of things.
Sure. Except there are some of us who didn't wait and still deal with the biological realities of things and try for years unsuccessfully. As someone in that boat, before I got pregnant, it used to irk me to no end to hear reports around fertility in general.
(Then again, I still sometimes have the urge of punching very pregnant women in the face which has to do with all of my issues around premature birth so I have enough issues for a full subscription around this topic).
Moreover, I think the final implication that society will change to allow earlier motherhood is bullshit.
work email is down. Of course I can still get emails via my BlackBerry, but it is annoying.

Oh yes, that was some lovely fantasyland wishful thinking right there. Because modern society has done so much to accomodate parenthood so far!
On a completely unrelated note, Here is a replica of San Francisco made entirely out of stainless steel cookware.

OMG, that is awesome! Does anyone want to go see that this weekend?
The radio version of the fertility story made me want to punch things, and the print version not so much at all; sounds like it wasn't just me having a cooler head when I went back to look.
Amych, it may also have been the self-satisfied smugness of the one mother who was all, "of course I stay at home! They are my responsibility!"
earlier motherhood
Two things I tell the college seniors in this group I am a part of is to seriously think about and work at meeting mates in college and to not dismiss having children early. Most of them give me the fisheye, but those are still two of my core pieces of advice.
