Whoa! Holy TWOP web redesign, Batman!

Tonight I get yet another fantastically useful new-teacher training session. The topic? The state test I don't have to give. So, yet another 2.5 hours on stuff that doesn't relate to me, emphasizing yet again my department's isolation from the general school community. Thanks!

Eh, I just resent these 2.5-hour meetings after the school day is over. That's my time to... play Final Fantasy, darnit!

take a book, or a handheld electronic device with games, and/or an ipod.

I just witnessed 2 grown men having the most ridiculous conversation about who is going to send an email or make a call.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Almost as good as calling out sick myself is the fact that my boss called out sick today. Apparently she continues to be really traumatized by the fact that we are not wailing and gnashing our teeth about the fact that she is leaving.

She turned around and punched the guy, hard.

Turned out it was one of the doctors she's working with that tried to surprise her.

Ask msbelle about the pirate that wanted to take a picture with her...

Alas, the group is small enough that they would definitely notice.

This will be much like the one about homework I went to, where we broke into small groups to discuss it and my only contribution was, "I don't assign it."

ETA: This is NOT to say that I see no value in discussing these things, or learning about issues that don't directly concern me right now -- I'm just bitchy about... well, everything. I treasure my free time.

msbelle? Can I hear the story about the pirate?

a crazed employee of a cruiseline assaulted me as I disembarked the ship, something about wanting a picture, and I think I shoved him away while maybe taking a fighting stance. There may have been an elbow thrown. Basic krav defence stuff for an attack from behind. Apparently it was hilarious to watch. I was completely in the right, all I'm sayin.

eta - and might I add, your mom sounds like a perfectly reasonable woman.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

My mom just called. She was walking in a mall, when suddenly she saw a shadow in the corner of her eye and felt someone touching her bag. She turned around and punched the guy, hard.

I guess the doctor learned not to sneak up on her!

I have nothing but respect for women who know how to use violence, and they are absolutely right.

She is!

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I think that if we all defended our personal bubbles with violence, people would be much more enlightened as to the existence thereof. A cold shoulder and a stiffly offended look can only do so much!
