That's disturbing. You're emotionally scarred and will end up badly.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

In my family, Mother's Day is a card-only holiday.

Here, too. And thank doG you spoke up -- I was starting to feel like the world's worst daughter!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I believe the U.S. is more racist, but it's more socially acceptable to be sexist.

I agree too. When push comes to shove the test will be in the ballot box.

I am so sick and fucking tired of seeing brilliant woman *settle,* when they should be running the goddamn joint

And on a flip side that less than a century after lynching was acceptable there's even half a chance a black person could get the gig? Amazing.

I just don't trust in it.

I had a panic that last Sunday was Mother's day. I'm so relieved to find out that it wasn't, but I'm not much better off with regards to what I'm actually going to do about it.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Happy Birthjday Glamcookie!

if Obama REALLY wants Clinton to concede gracefully, he should promise to appoint her to the Supreme Court when he becomes President.

My initial reaction to this was "Ooh, shiny idea", but on second thought I don't love it. She has no judicial experience, and while I think she would be a better judge than Thomas, experience does matter, and I don't think she has the temperament to make a really good judge.

Personally, I believe the U.S. is more racist, but it's more socially acceptable to be sexist.

Definitely.

IOmemeNews, today is totally on the list. I woke up to no home internet (Comcast is having a service interruption), I left my iphone at home, which means I have no ipod unless I go back out to the car, and a button popped off my sweater at some point after I left the house and I can't find it, which means I'm going to have a clothing gap where there should not be a clothing gap all day.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My mom's birthday is at the end of May, so I usually end up getting something a bit more expensive than what I'd generally spend on a birthday present and making it a birthday/mothers day present.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Happy birthday GC!

Is it wrong that I'm a little irked that the two people I was supposed to go to lunch with today to show off the office (especially since one of them helped get me this job and was saying how cool it would be to come up here) have decided it's better that I go to their office and we'll pick something up.

I mean, it's not their fault someone is out, but I'm a little disappointed.

Punishingly Intricate

I got my mom's Mother's Day gift (a donation which my mom LOVED) taken care of early thanks to msbelle!

I'm also going to give her the gift of HOPE by telling her I'm going out to Chicago to visit a man next month. heh.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

And on a flip side that less than a century after lynching was acceptable there's even half a chance a black person could get the gig? Amazing.

True enough. The fact that either a woman or a black man will be the Democratic nominee is astonishing.

(I can't spell today -- I spelled "nominee" about 4 different ways before I got the correct one. Variations included "moninee," niminee," and "nominnr." My fingers are not communicating with my brain.)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Money quote:

He referred to the “finite supply of oil in the world.” There is no scientific basis for alleging that Earth has a finite supply of oil.

Um... huh?
